Abstract:Urban design affecting the urban space construction and it did on a large extent base on urban design guidelines. As the main result of translating from design language to management language, urban design guidelines did act as an inter-medium for the operation of urban design guidance and control. It did link up the expectation of future city space with current day to day city planning management. Its quality directly affects the outcome of the urban space’s quality. Therefore, deeply understand the essence and function of urban design guidelines, and by establish and express urban design guidelines to organic integrate the design and management effectively. This will have vital signif icance to enhance the operability of urban design practices in China.
