Abstract:Further reduction of normal forms for nilpotent planar vector fields has been considered. Unique normal form for a special case of an unsolved problem for the Takens–Bogdanov singularity is given. Computations in Maple are used to conjecture the main results and some computations in the proof are also done with Maple.

Abstract:We present the unique normal form of a class of 3 dimensional vector fields (BT-zero singularity) with symmetries. The main technique applied to the computation is the combination of a linear grading function and the method of multiple Lie brackets. We introduce new notations for block matrices to simplify the expression of block matrices. The new notations help to prove the non-degeneracy of huge size matrices by an induction technique.

Abstract:In this paper, by using the normal form, blow-up theory and the technique of global bifurcations, we study the singularity at the origin with threefold zero eigenvalue for nonsymmetric vector fields with nilpotent linear part and 4-jet C∞-equivalent toy∂∂x+z∂∂y+ax3y∂∂z,with a ≠ 0, and analytically prove the existence of Sil’nikov bifurcation, and then of the strange attractor for certain subfamilies of the nonsymmetric versal unfoldings of this singularity under some conditions.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of the uniqueness of singular points of vector fields on Riemannian manifolds. The radii of the uniqueness balls of the singular points of vector fields are estimated under the assumption that the vector fields satisfy the γ-condition, and the results due to Wang and Han in [Criterion α and Newton's method under weak conditions, Chinese J. Numer. Appl. Math. 19(2) (1997) 96–105] are extended. Moreover, applications to analytic vector fields are given.

Abstract:This is the first of a series of papers where we relate tangent cones ofHermitian-Yang-Mills connections at an isolated singularity to the complexalgebraic geometry of the underlying reflexive sheaf, when the sheaf is locallymodelled on the pull-back of a holomorphic vector bundle from the projectivespace. In this paper we shall impose an extra assumption that the graded sheafdetermined by the Harder-Narasimhan-Seshadri filtrations of the vector bundleis reflexive. In general we conjecture that the tangent cone is uniquelydetermined by the double dual of the associated graded object of aHarder-Narasimhan-Seshadri filtration of an algebraic tangent cone, which is acertain torsion-free sheaf on the projective space. In this paper we also provethis conjecture when there is an algebraic tangent cone which is locally freeand stable.

Abstract:In this paper, the unique normal form for a class of three-dimensional nilpotent vector fields with symmetry is investigated. The key technique used is a combination of multiple Lie brackets, linear grading function, new notations of block matrices and first integral of the linear part of the given vector field which avoids complicated calculations. The first and the second order normal forms are computed successively, and the uniqueness of the second order normal form is proved under certain conditions.

Abstract:In this paper, we deal with hypernormal forms of non-resonant double Hopf singularities. We investigate the infinite level normal form classification of such singularities with nonzero radial cubic part. We provide a normal form decomposition of normal form vector fields in terms of planar-rotating and planar-radial vector fields. These facilitate the pattern recognition and analysis of the corresponding generalized homological maps. This paper is the first instance of the normal form classification for generic non-resonant double Hopf singularities without structural symmetry.

Rankin-Selberg's local zeta integrals produce linear functionals on generic irreducible admissible smooth representations of $GL_n(k)\times GL_r(k)$, with certain invariance properties. Abstract:Regular nilpotent Hessenberg varieties form an important family of subvarieties of the flag variety, which are often singular and sometimes not normal varieties. Like Schubert varieties, they contain distinguished points called permutation flags. In this paper, we give a combinatorial characterization for a permutation flag of a regular nilpotent Hessenberg variety to be a singular point. We also apply this result to characterize regular nilpotent Hessenberg varieties which are normal algebraic varieties.

Abstract:A differential 1-form $\alpha$ on a manifold of odd dimension $2n+1$, which satisfies the contact condition $\alpha \wedge (d\alpha)^n \neq 0$ almost everywhere, but which vanishes at a point $O$, i.e. $\alpha (O) = 0$, is called a \textit{singular contact form} at $O$. The aim of this paper is to study local normal forms (formal, analytic and smooth) of such singular contact forms. Our study leads naturally to the study of normal forms of singular primitive 1-forms of a symplectic form $\omega$ in dimension $2n$, i.e. differential 1-forms $\gamma$ which vanish at a point and such that $d\gamma = \omega$, and their corresponding conformal vector fields. Our results are an extension and improvement of previous results obtained by other authors, in particular Lychagin \cite{Lychagin-1stOrder1975}, Webster \cite{Webster-1stOrder1987} and Zhitomirskii \cite{Zhito-1Form1986,Zhito-1Form1992}. We make use of both the classical normalization techniques and the toric approach to the normalization problem for dynamical systems \cite{Zung_Birkhoff2005, Zung_Integrable2016, Zung_AA2018}.

Abstract:In this paper, we study normal forms of analytic saddle-nodes in $\mathbb C^n$ with any Poincaré rank $k\in \mathbb N$. The approach and the results generalize those of Bonchaert and De Maesschalck from 2008 that considered $k=1$. In particular, we introduce a Banach convolutional algebra that is tailored to study differential equations in the Borel plane of order $k$. We anticipate that our approach can stimulate new research and be used to study different normal forms in future work.

Singularity formations in Lagrangian mean curvature flow

Abstract:We study singularities along the Lagrangian mean curvature flow with tangent flows given by multiplicity one special Lagrangian cones that are smooth away from the origin. Some results are: uniqueness of all such tangent flows in dimension two; uniqueness in any dimension when the link of the cone is connected; the existence of nontrivial special Lagrangian blowup limits. We also prove a singular version of Imagi-Joyce-dos Santos's uniqueness result of the Lawlor neck. As an application we prove that in any dimension, singularities that admit a tangent flow given by the union of two transverse planes is modeled on shrinking Lawlor necks at suitable scales.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to develop, for the first time, a general theory of simultaneous local normalisation of couples ( X , G ) , where X is a dynamical system (vector field) and G is an underlying geometric structure preserved by X, even if both have singularities. Such couples appear naturally in many problems, e.g. Hamiltonian dynamics, where G is a symplectic structure and one has the theory of Birkhoff normal forms, or constrained dynamics, where G is a smooth, in general singular, distribution of tangent subspaces, etc. In this paper, the geometric structure G is of the following types: volume form, symplectic form, contact form, Poisson tensor, as well as their singular versions. The paper addresses mainly the more difficult situations when both X and G are singular at a point and its results prove the existence of natural simultaneous normal forms in these cases. In general, the normalisation is only formal, but when G and X are (real or complex) analytic and X is analytically or Darboux integrable, then the simultaneous normalisation is also analytic. Our theory is based on a new approach, called the Toric Conservation Principle, as well as the classical step-by-step normalisation technique, and the equivariant path method.

Abstract:Normal forms theory is one of the most powerful tools for the study of nonlinear differential equations, in particular, for stability and bifurcation analysis. Many works paid attention to normal forms associated with nilpotent Jacobian where the critical eigenvalues have algebraic multiplicity k ( k > 1) and geometric multiplicity one, and in particular, the case k > 2 is more complicated for determining unfolding. Despite a lot of theoretical results on nilpotent normal forms have been obtained, computation developing can not satisfy practical applications. To our knowledge, no results have been reported on the computation of explicit formulas of the nilpotent normal forms for k > 3 with perturbation parameters. The main difficulty is how to determine the complementary spaces of the Lie transformation. In this paper, we achieve the following results. (1) A simple dimension formula for the complementary space of the Lie transform; (2) a simple direct method to determine a basis of the complementary spaces; (3) a simple direct method to determine the projection of any vector to the complementary spaces. Using this method, the second-order normal forms for any n-dimensional nilpotent systems can be given easily. As an illustrative application, the normal forms for the vector field with triple-zero or four-fold zero singularity and functional differential equation with a triple-zero singularity are presented, and explicit formulas for the normal form coefficients with three or four unfolding parameters are obtained.

Abstract:We study the singularities of holomorphic maps of C-2 tangent to the identity. We will adapt the method of Hironaka for the resolution of singularities of algebraic varieties to our study. In particular, we introduce a new numerical invariant associated to such maps at the singularities, called "adapted order", which behaves well under blow-ups. Though other methods for desingularizing such maps exist, our approach has the advantage that it has no essential obstruction for generalizing to higher dimensions.

Abstract:Singularities of the focal surfaces and the binormal indicatrix associated with a null Cartan curve will be investigated in Minkowski 3-space. The relationships will be revealed between singularities of the above two subjects and differential geometric invariants of null Cartan curves; these invariants are deeply related to the order of contact of null Cartan curves with tangential planar bundle of lightcone.
