Abstract:The 2005~6006 curriculum of the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science(EECS) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) has been introduced here.The concentrations and related core courses are discussed.Comparisons between MIT courses and the related courses in China has been made.

Abstract:The present authors introduce the new courses included in the new curriculum of the Depart-ment of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science(EECS) in Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT),explain the revised parts of the curriculum,and elaborate on the basic idea and aim of the revision,especially on the roles and features of the two new introductory courses.The characteristics of three specialties in the Department of EECS and the course-selection schemes of seven research fields are presented,the difference between higher education in China and that in MIT is stated,and the enlightenment of the curricu-lum is discussed.

Abstract:The thesis starts with the background of computing education in today's K-12 education development, and then compares Chinese and American computer science K12 education based on frameworks and curriculum standards. The authors compared the framework design of computer science K-12 education in two countries from the perspectives of concept definition, structure, content, etc. To compare the curriculum design standards, the authors selected from the content, curriculum structure, curriculum implementation, curriculum teaching evaluation of curriculum and in-depth analysis and discussion were conducted from this perspective. The thesis summarizes the enlightenment of current Chinese education researchers on American K-12 computing education to Chinese education, and puts forward the author's own views.

Abstract:"Computer Organization and Architecture" is one of the most important fundamental courses for those majoring in computer science and engineering. The contents of the curriculum are crucial for entire computer discipline and computer systems. As a result, the curriculum plays an important role in training computer science students. This paper begins with the discussion on principles and goals of the curriculum. Then, it describes teaching philosophy and methods, improvements of contents, along with their effects, for lectures and experiments of the curriculum. Finally we review some experiences from the development and teaching of the curriculum. This paper intends to share experiences in teaching the curriculum with other institutes in China and provide them with a potentially useful instructional model.

Abstract:One important issue in undergraduate software engineering curriculum is how to help students establish the concept of software engineering at the beginning of software engineering undergraduate program and to provide a reasonable basis of knowledge and skills for subsequent courses. The "Computing and Software Engineering (CSE)", a three-semester course, is designed as the introductory course for undergraduate software engineering program at NJU in China; it tries to help students learn the comprehensive knowledge and skills in constructing small-to-medium size software. The course includes not only technical topics, such as programming and software development technology, but also professionalism and teamwork through constructing different scales of software. The knowledge is organized with the complete software example development demonstration, which makes it easier for students to synthesize all knowledge related in software development. CSE has been executed from 2009, and it has been refined according to feedback from students, lecturers and TAs. This paper describes the design and teaching practice of CSE.

Abstract:'Simulation of Civil Engineering' is a '3+1' special courses for the department of civil engineering, The students have difficulty in this study because of many related courses and lacking of time. The CDIO-based engineering education model uses the innovation practice base of construction as a platform, through the study of specific actual project and the organization of students' teams in-depth study in their spare time. On the one hand, this project can string related courses together and sum up knowledge, on the other hand, this project can integrate teacher research projects, student research scheme, the course of simulation of civil engineering and graduation papers (design), to achieve the effect of multiple purposes.

Abstract:Tsinghua University currently offers a general education curriculum on computer fundamentals for non-computer majors. This curriculum plays an important role in helping students establishing a complete knowledge structure in computer technology and in developing students' interdisciplinary research capabilities. In the survey of needs for such a curriculum at Tsinghua university, eleven major areas' special characteristics and their latest needs for new talents were carefully analyzed. A new curriculum was designed based on the results from the survey. This new curriculum features a set of solid foundational courses, a clear organization of concepts by types and by levels, applications orientated. After two years of implementation, the new curriculum has been shown to be very effective.

Abstract:Embedded System Education, has become an, important part of information disciplines' teaching programs, and attracted educators' attention, in China. To counter the deficiency of practice training in some graduates' courses a new curriculum "'Hardware/Software integrated design of embedded systems" is given, at Tsinghna University. The course's main contents, teaching activities' arrangements, basic/research experiments, and a few kinds of embedded, teaching experimental platforms are introduced. The merits and differences between the course and existing courses are indicated, and the necessity to build a powerful experimental environment for graduates to get practice skill is stressed.

The presenters are part of the task group leading the revisions and will give an overview of the latest draft.
