Abstract:The commercial expansion of earlier European colonialists upset,in a way,the long existing China-centered Tributary State System in East Asia, meanwhile,it helped establish a more extensive trading system by exploiting the then Tributary State commercial network;thus, some of the ports and islands along the southeast China coast integrated into the European dominant trading system set up after the mid 16th century. The fact that the imperial Ming government granted Yue-gang Port to be an opening port to private business on the sea resulted from the power struggle of different parts which reflects the conservative nature of the feudal empire.
