Abstract:By constraining the potential of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation to its co-invariants expressed in terms of the squared eigenfunctions, the KP equation is reduced to a (1 + 1)-dimensional system consisting of the generalized multicomponent nonlinear Schrödinger and modified Korteweg-de Vries equations. So any solution of this system gives rise to a solution of the KP equation, such as new kinds of soliton-like solutions and a solution periodic in the x direction.

Abstract:In this paper, the linear spectral problem, which associated with the (n+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (gKP) equation, with the Jacobi elliptic function as the external potential is investigated based on the Lame function, from which some novel local nonlinear wave solutions on the Jacobi elliptic function have been obtained by Darboux transformation, and the corresponding dynamics have also been discussed. At the same time, the degenerate solutions of the nonlinear wave solutions on the Jacobi function background for the gKP equation are constructed by taking the modulus of the Jacobi function to be 0 and 1. The findings indicate that there can be various types of nonlinear wave solutions with different ranges of spectral parameters, including soliton and breather waves. These results will be useful for elucidating and predicting nonlinear phenomena in related physical fields, such as physical ocean and Bose-Einstein condensates.

Abstract:This paper investigates a class of nonlinear elliptic equations on a fractal domain. We establish a strong Sobolev-type inequality which leads to the existence of multiple non-trivial solutions of Δu +c(x)u =f(x,u), with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions on the Sierpiski gasket. Our existence results do not require any growth conditions off(x, t) in t, in contrast to the classical theory of elliptic equations on smooth domains.

Abstract:Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equation is a classical nonlinear evolution equation applied in many fields such as plasma physics, fluid dynamics and engineering. In general, variable coefficients are of value in reflecting the inhomogeneities of media, nonuniformities of boundaries, and external forces. This paper mainly studies some exact solutions of a generalized KP equation with variable coefficients by using Hirota bilinear method. Based on the bilinear form, one-, two-, N -soliton solution, Bäcklund transformation and Lax pair are obtained. With the use of the test function method, lump solution and interaction solutions of lump-stripe and lump-soliton types are constructed, and the structure of the solutions are shown in three-dimensional figures. The analysis on the interaction solutions reveals new dynamic behaviors and periodic evolutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions of an equation with p -Laplacian where n ≥ 3, 1 < p < n , q > 0, Δ p u = div(|∇ u | p −2 ∇ u ), and K ( x ) is a double bounded function. We will prove the following results. When 0 < q < p − 1, the equation has no solution satisfying inf R n u = 0 for any double bounded function K ( x ). When q = p − 1, the equation has a positive radial singular solution for K ( x ) ≡ Const. . In addition, q = p − 1 is a necessary condition such that this equation (with K ( x ) ≡ 1) has finite energy solutions. In addition, the existence of positive solutions are also derived for the system where u , v > 0 in R n \ {0}, n ≥ 3, 1 < p 1 , p 2 < n , q 1 , q 2 > 0, and K 1 ( x ), K 2 ( x ) are double bounded functions.

Abstract:Abstract Of concern is the fractional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (fKP) equation and its lump solution. As in the classical Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation, the fKP equation comes in two versions: fKP-I (strong surface tension case) and fKP-II (weak surface tension case). We prove the existence of nontrivial lump solutions for the fKP-I equation in the energy subcritical case $$\alpha >\frac{4}{5}$$ α > 4 5 by means of variational methods. It is already known that there exist neither nontrivial lump solutions belonging to the energy space for the fKP-II equation [9] nor for the fKP-I when $$\alpha \le \frac{4}{5}$$ α ≤ 4 5 [26]. Furthermore, we show that for any $$\alpha >\frac{4}{5}$$ α > 4 5 lump solutions for the fKP-I equation are smooth and decay quadratically at infinity. Numerical experiments are performed for the existence of lump solutions and their decay. Moreover, numerically, we observe cross-sectional symmetry of lump solutions for the fKP-I equation.

Abstract:We consider the following problemDelta u = lambda[1/u(p)-1/u(q)] in B, u = kappa is an element of (0, (p-1/q-1)(-1/(p-q))] on partial derivative B, 0 < u < kappain B, where p > q > 1 and B is the unit ball in R-N (N >= 2). We show that there exists lambda* > 0 such that for 0 < lambda < lambda*, the maximal solution is the only positive radial solution. Furthermore, if 2 <= N < 2 + 4/p+1 (p + root p(2)+p), the branch of positive radial solutions must undergo infinitely many turning points as the maxima of the radial solutions on the branch go to 0. The key ingredient is the use of a monotonicity formula.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into the study of the generalized KP equation, which incorporates double-power nonlinearities. Our investigation covers various aspects, including the existence of solitary waves, their nonlinear stability, and instability. Notably, we address a broader class of nonlinearities represented by $\mu_1|u|^{p_1-1}u+\mu_2|u|^{p_2-1}u$, with $p_1>p_2$, encompassing cases where $\mu_1>0$ and $\mu_1<0<\mu_2$. One of the distinct features of our work is the absence of scaling, which introduces several challenges in establishing the existence of ground states. To overcome these challenges, we employ two different minimization problems, offering novel approaches to address this issue. Furthermore, our study includes a nuanced analysis to ascertain the stability of these ground states. Intriguingly, we extend our stability analysis to encompass cases where the convexity of the Lyapunov function is not guaranteed. This expansion of stability criteria represents a significant contribution to the field. Moving beyond the analysis of solitary waves, we shift our focus to the associated Cauchy problem. Here, we derive criteria that determine whether solutions exhibit finite-time blow-up or remain uniformly bounded within the energy space. Remarkably, our study unveils a notable gap in the existing literature, characterized by the absence of both theoretical evidence of blow-up and uniform boundedness. To explore this intriguing scenario, we employ the integrating factor method, providing a numerical investigation of solution behavior. This method distinguishes itself by offering spectral-order accuracy in space and fourth-order accuracy in time. Lastly, we rigorously establish the strong instability of the ground states, adding another layer of understanding to the complex dynamics inherent in the generalized KP equation.

Abstract:Using the Hirota bilinear method and the improved long-wave limit method to solve the (N+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili(gKP) equation for anomalous scattering and weak interaction solutions. By improving the traditional long-wave limit method, the anomalous scattering of the two lumps are obtained, and the weak interaction solutions of multiple lumps are derived, and the dynamic behavior of the lump solutions are discussed in detail.

Uniqueness, non-degeneracy, and exact multiplicity of positive solutions for superlinear elliptic problems

Abstract:In this paper, we focus our attention on the positive solutions to second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations of the form $u''+q(t)g(u)=0$, where $q$ is a sign-changing weight and $g$ is a superlinear function. We exploit the classical shooting approach and the comparison theorem to present non-degeneracy and exact multiplicity results for positive solutions. This completes the multiplicity results obtained by Feltrin and Zanolin. Numerical examples and some related open problems are also discussed.

Abstract:The authors of this article study the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions of the initial-boundary value problem for ut=div((|u|σ+d0)|∇u|p(x,t)−2∇u)+f(x,t)(0<σ<2).. They apply the method of parabolic regularization and Galerkin's method to prove the existence of solutions to the mentioned problem and then prove the uniqueness of the weak solution by arguing by contradiction. The authors prove that the solution approaches 0 in L2(Ω) norm as t → ∞.

The global existence of nonnegative solutions is obtained by combining the Galerkin approximations with the potential well theory. Then, by virtue of a differential inequality technique, we give a decay estimate of solutions.

Abstract:Recently, a new decomposition of the (2+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation to a (1+1)dimensional Broer-Kaup (BK) equation and a (1+1) -dimensional high-order BK equation was presented by Lou and Hu. In our paper, a unified Darboux transformation for both the BK equation and high-order BK equation is derived with the help of a gauge transformation of their spectral problems. As application, new explicit soliton-like solutions with five arbitrary parameters for the BK equation, high-order BK equation and KP equation are obtained.
