Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of solutions to the centroaffine Minkowski problem, namely the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space R n + 1 \mathbb {R}^{n+1} with prescribed centroaffine curvature. This problem can be described as a variational problem with a functional resembling Kantorovich’s dual functional in optimal transportation. By using the Gauss curvature flow, we obtain new conditions for the existence of solutions to the problem.

Abstract:By using the interior curvature estimate and Gromov's compactness theorem, we prove that a stable complete minimal hypersurface in R n +1 with finite total scalar curvature must be a hyperplane. This extends the result obtained by P. Bérard in Remarques sur l'équation de J. Simons, Pitman Monographs Surveys Pure Appl. Math. , vol. 52, 1991, pp. 47-57.

Abstract:By using curvature estimates, we prove that a complete non-compact hypersurface M with constant mean curvature and finiteL n -norm curvature in R n+1 must be minimal, so that M is a hyperplane if it is strongly stable. This is a generalization of the result on stable complete minimal hypersurfaces of R n+1. Moreover, complete strongly stable hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and finite L 1-norm curvature in R n+1 are considered.

Abstract:The contribution of this paper is two-fold. The first one is to derive a simple formula of the mean curvature form for a hypersurface in the Randers space with a Killing field, by considering the Busemann-Hausdorff measure and Holmes-Thompson measure simultaneously. The second one is to obtain the explicit local expressions of two types of nontrivial rotational BH-minimal surfaces in a Randers domain of constant flag curvature K=-1, which are the first examples of BH-minimal surfaces in the hyperbolic Randers space.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional closed hypersurface with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in a unit sphere. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form. We prove that if a(n, H) <= S <= alpha( n, H)+ CnH2, where n >= 4 and H not equal 0, then S = alpha( n, H) and M is a Clifford torus Sn-1(r(1)) x S-1(r(2)). Here alpha(n, H) = n + n(3)/2(n -1) H-2 - n(n - 2)/2(n - 1) root n(2)H(4) + 4(n - 1) H-2, and C-n is a positive constant explicitly depending on n. The emphasis is that our gap theorem imposes no restriction on the range of mean curvature. Moreover, we obtain gap theorems for complete hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in space forms.

Abstract:Given $$n_1\ge n_2\ge 2$$ , let $$\Sigma $$ be an orientable, minimal hypersurface of $$\mathbb {S}^{n_1}(1)\times \mathbb {S}^{n_2}(a)$$ with index one. Assume $$\Sigma $$ is closed and either smooth or singular with a singular set $${{\,\mathrm{sing}\,}}(\Sigma )$$ satisfying $$\mathcal {H}^{n-2}({{\,\mathrm{sing}\,}}(\Sigma ))=0$$ . By using the almost product structure, we prove that, when $$a^{2}\ge \frac{n_2}{n_1-1}$$ or $$a^{2}\le \frac{n_2-1}{n_1}$$ , such $$\Sigma $$ must be totally geodesic. As an application, combining with the results of X. Zhou [37], we compute the width of $$\mathbb {S}^{n_1}(1)\times \mathbb {S}^{n_2}(a)$$ .

Abstract:In this paper, we estimate areas of compact minimal rotational hypersurfaces in the unit sphere. A sharper lower bound and upper bound on areas of these hypersurfaces are given. As applications, we confirm two conjectures, one in Perdomo and Wei (Nonlinear Anal 125:241–250, 2015), another in Cheng et al (Asian J Math 25:183–194, 2021) and give estimations of entropies of some special self-shrinkers.

Abstract:We show some area estimates for stable CMC hypersurfaces immersed in Riemannian manifolds with scalar and sectional curvature bounded from below. In particular, we focus on immersions in three-dimensional Riemannian manifolds. As an application, we derive some upper estimates for the bottom spectrum of these hypersurfaces. This paper generalizes and builds on the techniques developed by Munteanu, Sung and Wang for stable minimal surfaces.

Area-minimizing Hypersurfaces in Singular Ambient Manifolds

Abstract:We study area-minimizing hypersurfaces in singular ambient manifolds whose tangent cones have nonnegative scalar curvature on their regular parts. We prove that the singular set of the hypersurface has codimension at least 3 in our settings. We also give an example in which n-dimensional minimizing hypersurface in an ambient space as given above may have singularities of dimension $n-3$. This shows that our regularity result is sharp.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we consider locally wedge-shaped manifolds, which are Riemannian manifolds that are allowed to have both boundary and certain types of edges. We define and study the properties of free boundary minimal hypersurfaces inside locally wedge-shaped manifolds. In particular, we show a compactness theorem for free boundary minimal hypersurfaces with curvature and area bounds in a locally wedge-shaped manifold. Additionally, using Schoen–Simon–Yau’s estimates, we also prove a Bernstein-type theorem indicating that, under certain conditions, a stable free boundary minimal hypersurface inside a Euclidean wedge must be a portion of a hyperplane. As our main application, we establish a curvature estimate for sufficiently regular free boundary minimal hypersurfaces in a locally wedge-shaped manifold with certain wedge angle assumptions. We expect this curvature estimate will be useful for establishing a min-max theory for the area functional in wedge-shaped spaces.

Abstract:We exhibit the first set of examples of non-bumpy metrics on the $(n+1)$-sphere ($2\leq n\leq 6$) in which the varifold associated with the two-parameter min-max construction must be a multiplicity-two minimal $n$-sphere. This is proved by a new area-and-separation estimate for certain minimal hypersurfaces with Morse index two inspired by an early work of Colding-Minicozzi. We also construct non-bumpy projective spaces in which the first min-max hypersurfaces are one-sided, and non-bumpy balls in which the free boundary min-max hypersurfaces are improper.

Abstract:In this paper, we study $n$-dimensional complete minimal hypersurfaces in a hyperbolic space $H^{n+1}(-1)$ of constant curvature $-1$. We prove that a $3$-dimensional complete minimal hypersurface with constant scalar curvature in $H^{4}(-1)$ satisfies $S\leq \frac{21}{29}$ by making use of the Generalized Maximum Principle, where $S$ denotes the squared norm of the second fundamental form of the hypersurface.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider immersed two-sided minimal hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with finite total curvature. We prove that the sum of the Morse index and the nullity of the Jacobi operator is bounded from below by a linear function of the number of ends and the first Betti number of the hypersurface. When $n=4$, we are able to drop the nullity term by a careful study for the rigidity case. Our result is the first effective generalization of Li-Wang. Using our index estimates and ideas from the recent work of Chodosh-Ketover-Maximo, we prove compactness and finiteness results of minimal hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^4$ with finite index.

Assume B 1 ⁢ ( p i ) {B_{1}(p_{i})} converges to a metric ball B 1 ⁢ ( p ∞ ) {B_{1}(p_{\infty})} in the Gromov–Hausdorff sense. Abstract:In this paper we derive a Gauss-Bonnet formula for the renormalized area of Graham-Witten minimal hypersurfaces of 5-dimensional Poincaré-Einstein spaces. The formula we derive expresses the renormalized area in terms of integrals of pointwise scalar Riemannian invariants. We also prove a result which gives a characterization of minimal hypersurfaces with $L^2$ second fundamental form in terms of conformal geometry at infinity.

Existence of minimal hypersurfaces with arbitrarily large area and possible obstructions

Abstract:We prove that in a closed Riemannian manifold with dimension between $3$ and $7$, either there are minimal hypersurfaces with arbitrarily large area, or there exist uncountably many stable minimal hypersurfaces. Moreover, the latter case has a very pathological Cantor set structure which does not show up in certain manifolds. Among the applications, we prove that there exist minimal hypersurfaces with arbitrarily large area in analytic manifolds. In the proof, we use the Almgren-Pitts min-max theory proposed by Marques-Neves, the ideas developed by Song in his proof of Yau's conjecture, and the resolution of the generic multiplicity-one conjecture by Zhou.

Differential Geometry and its Applications

Abstract:C.P. Wang [Geom. Dedicata 51 (1994) 63–74] studied the Euler–Lagrange equation for the centroaffine area functional of hypersurfaces. In terms of a local representation of the hypersurface as a graph, this equation is a complicated, strongly non-linear fourth order PDE. We consider classes of solutions satisfying these equations together with completeness conditions. We also formulate appropriate centroaffine Bernstein problems and give partial solutions.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to prove two results concerning the rigidity of complete, immersed, orientable, stable minimal hypersurfaces: we show that they are hyperplane in R 4 , while they do not exist in positively curved closed Riemannian ( n +1)-manifold when n ≤5; in particular, there are no stable minimal hypersurfaces in S n +1 when n ≤5. The first result was recently proved also by Chodosh and Li, and the second is a consequence of a more general result concerning minimal surfaces with finite index. Both theorems rely on a conformal method, inspired by a classical work of Fischer-Colbrie.
