Role Adaptation of Family and Influential Factors in Postpartum Period

Abstract:Objective To investigate the conditions of role adaptation of family after delivery and the factors that may affect the role adaptation of family.Methods Questionnaire surveys covering primiparae (n=80) and their husbands (n=80) were conducted respectively.Results The role adaptation of the families in the subjects was good as a whole.But it was relatively weak in care behavior for neonate.A good couple relation and an appropriate plan for pregnancy time were helpful to role adaptation in the postpartum period,and the satisfaction to the sex of the neonate affected such adaptation.Conclusion It is necessary to enhance health education during hospitalization period and family follow-up in the postpartum period.The nurse in obstetric department should pay more attention to the influencing factors of role adaptation after delivery and give concern to the relative families so as to improve the family role adaptation.
