Abstract:Abstract In the presence of sodium telluride, α-cyanosulfones undergo tandem condensation-desulfonylation reaction with aromatic aldehydes to give (2Z)-αβ-unsaturated nitriles with good stereoselectivity.

Abstract:A highly regioselective iodosulfonylation of allenes in the presence of CuI and 1,10-phenanthroline has been developed for the synthesis of various useful ( E)-α-iodomethyl vinylsulfones in moderate to excellent yields. This practical reaction is fast, operationally simple, and in particular, proceeds under very mild conditions to afford the target products with high regio- and stereoselectivity. The selectivity was illustrated by a conceptual DFT analysis.

Abstract:An one-pot stereoselective synthesis of 2-aminobenzylidene derivatives from readily available 5-nitro/cyano-activated 2-halobenzaldehydes (2-chloro-5-nitrobenzaldehyde, 2-bromo-5-nitrobenzaldehyde, 2-fluoro-5-nitrobenzaldehyde, 5-cyano-2-fluorobenzaldehyde), the active methylidene compounds (cyanoacetamide and ethyl cyanoacetate), and secondary cycloamines via a novel parallel convergent Knoevenagel-nucleophilic aromatic substitution and nucleophilic aromatic substitution-Knoevenagel condensation cascade approach under mild conditions has been developed with high stereoselectivity and in 52-88% yields.

Abstract:Asymmetric synthesis of 3-hydroxyl-2-alkanones is achieved via one-pot, tandem organocatalytic aminoxylation of aldehydes and chemoselective CH2N2-induced homologation. Accelerating effect of water is observed in α-aminoxylation. MgCl2, a Lewis acid additive, improves the chemoselectivity of the diazomethane homologation to 6:1 in favor of ketone.

Abstract:Sulfonyl hydrazones have been identified as an excellent sulfonyl anion surrogate in the base and Pd-0-catalyzed three-component tandem reaction with aryl iodides and allenes for the synthesis of functionalized allylic sulfones. By forming a stabilized six-membered palladacycle intermediate, the reaction led to the desired higher substituted allylic sulfones with excellent Z selectivities and high yields.

Abstract:A Sc(OTf)(3)-catalyzed formal acylcyanation of electron-rich alkynes for the efficient synthesis of fully-substituted acrylonitriles is described. By means of alkyne carbonyl metathesis, the reaction features mild conditions, high regio- and stereoselectivity, and a broad scope. The strong preference of the nitrile group for inward rotation in the torquoselective ring opening of the oxetane intermediate determines the remarkable Z selectivity of this process.

Abstract:The metalloenamines, formed by NH-deprotonation of β,β-disubstituted enesulfinamides, can undergo reactions with commercially available electrophilic cyanating reagents such as tosyl cyanide (TsCN) or 3-oxo-1,2-benziodoxole-1(3H)-carbonitrile (CBX). Through the utilization of appropriate stereoisomers of enesulfinamides, this method enables the selective synthesis of any of the four stereoisomers of α,α-disubstituted β-sulfinylimino nitriles, which feature acyclic quaternary stereocenters and are typically more challenging to synthesize. These compounds can then undergo stereoselective nucleophilic addition, leading to the creation of valuable enantioenriched multisubstituted β-amino carbonyl surrogates with a high degree of structural diversity.

Abstract:alpha,beta-Unsaturated nitriles were found to be suitable substrates for aminochlorination with N,N-dichloro-p-toluenesulfonamide (4-TsNCl2) in the presence of CuCl as the catalyst (10 mol-%) and 4 angstrom molecular sieves. The reaction is very convenient to carry out at room temperature without the protection of inert gases, and this method provides an easy route to vicinal haloamino nitriles with excellent regio- and stereoselectivities and in good chemical yields. Abstract:A practical and straightforward approach for the highly stereoselective synthesis of gamma,delta-unsaturated beta-amino sulfones by nucleophilic (phenylsulfonyl) methylation of N-tert-butylsulfinyl ketimines with methyl phenyl sulfone was achieved. With lithium bis(trimethylsilyl) amide as the base, the corresponding sulfone-stabilized carbanion derived from methyl phenyl sulfone can be transferred to (S)-alpha,beta-unsaturated N-tert-butylsulfinyl ketimines in very good yields and with high diastereoselectivities. Electron-withdrawing or electron-donating substituents on the aryl rings of (S)-alpha,beta-unsaturated N-tert-butylsulfinyl ketimines did not exert a significant effect on the outcome of the diastereoselective nucleophilic (phenylsulfonyl) methylation.
