Study on laboratory simulation ageing property of asphalt

Abstract:The process of asphalt ageing was introduced;thermal oxidation and photo oxidation were used to simulate short-term ageing and long-term ageing in laboratory respectively according to the characteristic of road asphalt.There were analyses on the change law of various indexes in the ageing process of AH-70 and AH-90,and a contrast with the test results between thermal oxidation and photo oxidation.The result showed that softening point and viscosity increased,penetration and ductility decreased with the ageing time of AH-70 and AH-90 increase.The thermal oxidation resistance and the photo oxidation resistance of AH-70 were stronger than AH-90 in the same condition.Ultraviolet could make asphalt aged,but temperature was the main factor result in asphalt ageing.
