Abstract:We deal with the Q-curvature problem on a 4-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold (M,g) with ∫MQgdVg=8π2 and positive Paneitz operator Pg. Let Q̃ be a positive smooth function. The question we consider is, when can we find a metric g̃ which is conformal to g, such that Q̃ is just the Q-curvature of g̃. A sufficient condition to this question is given in this paper.

Abstract:This article concerns the Lp Minkowski problem for q-capacity. We consider the case p >= 1 and 1 < q < nin the smooth category by a kind of curvature flow, which converges smoothly to the solution of a Monge-Amp & eacute;re type equation. We show the existence of smooth solution to the problem for p >= n. We also provide a proof for the weak solution to the problem when p >= 1, which has been obtained by Zou and Xiong.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the rigidity of Q-curvature. Specifically, we consider a closed, oriented $n$-dimensional ($n\geq6$) Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ and prove the following results under the condition $\int_{M} \nabla R\cdot\nabla \mathrm{Q}\mathrm{d} V_g\leq0$. (1) If $(M,g)$ is locally conformally flat with nonnegative Ricci curvature, then $(M,g)$ is isometric to a quotient of $\mathbb{R}^n$, $\mathbb{S}^n$, or $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$. (2) If $(M,g)$ has $\delta^2 W=0$ with nonnegative sectional curvature, then $(M,g)$ is isometric to a quotient of the product of Einstein manifolds. Additionally, we investigate some rigidity theorems involving Q-curvature about hypersurfaces in simply-connected space forms. We also show the uniqueness of metrics with constant scalar curvature and constant Q-curvature in a fixed conformal class.

Abstract:In this article we first show that any finite cover of the moduli space of closed Riemann surfaces of genus $g$ with $g\geq 2$ does not admit any Riemannian metric $ds^2$ of nonnegative scalar curvature such that $ds^2 \succ ds_{T}^2$ where $ds_{T}^2$ is the Teichm\"uller metric. Our second result is the proof that any cover $M$ of the moduli space $\mathbb{M}_{g}$ of a closed Riemann surface $S_{g}$ does not admit any complete Riemannian metric of uniformly positive scalar curvature in the quasi-isometry class of the Teichm\"uller metric, which implies a conjecture of Farb-Weinberger.

Abstract:On a $2m$-dimensional closed manifold we investigate the existence of prescribed $Q$-curvature metrics with conical singularities. We present here a general existence and multiplicity result in the supercritical regime. To this end, we first carry out a blow-up analysis of a $2m$th-order PDE associated to the problem and then apply a variational argument of min-max type. For $m>1$, this seems to be the first existence result for supercritical conic manifolds different from the sphere.

Abstract:Let $(M,g)$ be a closed connected oriented (possibly non-spin) smooth four-dimensional manifold with scalar curvature bounded below by $n(n-1)$. In this paper, we prove that if $f$ is a smooth map of non-zero degree from $(M, g)$ to the unit four-sphere, then $f$ is an isometry. Following ideas of Gromov, we use $\mu$-bubbles and a version with coefficients of the rigidity of the three-sphere to rule out the case of strict inequality. Our proof of rigidity is based on the harmonic map heat flow coupled with the Ricci flow.

Abstract:We are interested in the geometry of the group $\mathcal{D}_q(M)$ of diffeomorphisms preserving a contact form $\theta$ on a manifold $M$. We define a Riemannian metric on $\mathcal{D}_q(M)$, compute the corresponding geodesic equation, and show that solutions exist for all time and depend smoothly on initial conditions. In certain special cases (such as on the 3-sphere), the geodesic equation is a simplified version of the quasigeostrophic equation, so we obtain a new geodesic interpretation of this geophysical system. We also show that the genuine quasigeostrophic equation on $S^2$ can be obtained as an Euler-Arnold equation on a one-dimensional central extension of $T_{\id}\mathcal{D}_q(M)$, and that our global existence result extends to this case. If $E$ is the Reeb field of $\theta$ and $\mu$ is the volume form, assumed compatible in the sense that $\text{div} E=0$, we show that $\mathcal{D}_q(M)$ is a smooth submanifold of $\mathcal{D}_{E,\mu}(M)$, the space of diffeomorphisms preserving the vector field $E$ and the volume form $\mu$, in the sense of $H^s$ Sobolev completions. The latter manifold is related to symmetric motion of ideal fluids. We further prove that the corresponding geodesic equations and projections are $C^{\infty}$ objects in the Sobolev topology.

Abstract:This articles is devoted to a description of the second-order differential geometry of torsion-free almost quaternionic skew-Hermitian manifolds, that is, of quaternionic skew-Hermitian manifolds $(M, Q, \omega)$. We provide a curvature characterization of such integrable geometric structures, based on the holonomy theory of symplectic connections and we study qualitative properties of the induced Ricci tensor. Then we proceed with bundle constructions over such a manifold $(M, Q, \omega)$. In particular, we prove the existence of almost hypercomplex skew-Hermitian structures on the Swann bundle over $M$ and investigate their integrability.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the CR $Q$-curvature is orthogonal to the space of CR pluriharmonic functions on any closed strictly pseudoconvex CR manifold of dimension at least five. To this end, we obtain a cohomological expression of the integral of the product of the CR $Q$-curvature and a CR pluriharmonic function.

Abstract:We obtain existence results for the Q -curvature equation of order 2 k on a closed Riemannian manifold of dimension , where is an integer. We obtain these results under the assumptions that the Yamabe invariant of order 2 k is positive and the Green's function of the corresponding operator is positive, which are satisfied in particular when the manifold is Einstein with positive scalar curvature. In the case where or the manifold is locally conformally flat, we assume moreover that the operator has positive mass. In the case where and the manifold is not locally conformally flat, the results essentially reduce to the determination of the sign of a complicated constant depending only on n and k .

Abstract:The classification of solutions to semilinear partial differential equations, as well as the classification of critical points of the corresponding functionals, have wide applications in the study of partial differential equations and differential geometry. The classical moving plane method and the method of moving sphere on the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^n$ provide an effective approach to capture the symmetry of solutions. As far as we know, the moving sphere method has yet to be developed on the hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^n$. In the present paper, we focus on the following equation \begin{equation*} P_k u = f(u) \end{equation*} on hyperbolic spaces $\mathbb{H}^n$, where $P_k$ denotes the GJMS operators on $\mathbb{H}^n$ and $f : \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}$ satisfies certain growth conditions. We develop a moving sphere approach on $\mathbb{H}^n$ to obtain the symmetry propertyas well as the classification of positive solutions to the above equation. Our methods also rely on the Helgason-Fourier analysis and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on hyperbolic space together with a Kelvin transform we introduce on the hyperbolic space in this paper. We also present applications to the higher order prescribed $Q$-curvature problem on the hyperbolic space.

Abstract:Consider a Riemannian manifold $(M^{m}, g)$ whose volume is the same as the standard sphere $(S^{m}, g_{round})$. If $p>\frac{m}{2}$ and $\int_{M} \left\{ Rc-(m-1)g\right\}_{-}^{p} dv$ is sufficiently small, we show that the normalized Ricci flow initiated from $(M^{m}, g)$ will exist immortally and converge to the standard sphere. Abstract:We consider the Paneitz-type equation $\Delta^2 u -\alpha \Delta u +\beta (u-u^q ) =0$ on a closed Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$. We reduce the equation to a fourth-order ordinary differential equation assuming that $(M,g)$ admits a proper isoparametric function. Assuming that $\alpha$ and $\beta$ are positive and $\alpha^2 >4\beta$, we prove that the global nonconstant solutions of this ordinary differential equation only has nondegenerate critical points. Applying global bifurcation theory we prove multiplicity results for positive solutions of the equation. As an application and motivation we prove multiplicity results for conformal constant $Q$-curvature metrics. For example, consider closed positive Einstein manifolds $(M^n ,g )$ and $(X^m , h)$ of dimensions $n,m \geq 3$. Assuming that $M$ admits a proper isoparametric function (with a symmetry condition) we prove that as $\delta >0$ gets closer to 0, the number of constant $Q$-curvature metrics conformal to $g_{\delta} = g+\delta h$ goes to infinity.

Abstract:In this paper we provide a positive lower bound for the number of metrics of constant Q -curvature which are conformal to a Riemannian product of the form , where is a small positive constant, ( M , g ) is a closed (compact without boundary) n -dimensional Riemannian manifold and ( X , h ) a closed m -dimensional (positive) Einstein manifold. We assume that and or, if , that . More specifically, we study the constant Q -curvature equation on the Riemannian product , which becomes, by restricting the equation to functions which depend only on the M -variable, a subcritical equation on ( M , g ) driven by a fourth order operator, known as the Paneitz operator. Then we prove that, for small enough, the equation has at least positive solutions, where is the Lusternik-Schnirelmann category of M . This implies that there are at least metrics of constant Q -curvature in the conformal class of the Riemannian product .
