Abstract:Chinese architecture must bring forth new ideas while inherit traditions,and develop modern form in order to meet with the needs. This kind of development is neither the modern reproduction of the tradition,nor the simple transplant of foreign modern styles neglecting Chinese architectural history. Instead,it is necessary to examine the traditions from the point of view of modern society and culture,and to inherit and enhance the vital essence of traditional architecture while to use the successful experience of foreign architecture. Just between the traditional and the modern style,and between the national and world relations,a road must be found for the development of Chinese architecture.
