Abstract:Objective: To confirm the influence of growth hormone on intestinal bacteria translocation in rats with sepsis. Methods: Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats,weighing 200-250g,were randomly divided into four groups: control group(n=18),growth hormone group(n=18),sepsis group(n=18)and sepsis plus growth hormone group(n=18).Each group were further randomly divided into jejunum, ileum and colon groups.Murine septic model was established through intraperitoneal injection of LPS,and sepsis plus gowth hormone group was followed by growth hormone.E.coli labeled with green fluorescent protein(GFP) was injected into each intestinal segment through the tube. The mesenteric lymph nodes(MLNs)were taken for frozen section and examined for translocation of GFP labeled E.coli.The apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells was determined. Results: The bacteria labeled with green fluorescent protein and apoptosis in sepsis group were higher than that in control group, and was highest in the ileum group. In sepsis plus growth hormone group, the bacteria and apoptosis were lower compared with sepsis group. Conclusion: Growth hormone can reduce the apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells and the incidence of intestinal bacteria translocation in rats with sepsis.
