Abstract:We introduce and study the universal norm distribution in this paper, which generalizes the concepts of universal ordinary distribution and the universal Euler system. We study the Anderson type resolution of the universal norm distribution and then use this resolution to study the group cohomology of the universal norm distribution.

Abstract:This article generalizes the results of [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 512 (2022), Article No. 126075], which presented a theory of distributions (generalized functions) with a singular curve contained in the domain of the test functions. In this present article we construct a theory of distributions in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with a ``thick submanifold'', that is, a new theory of thick distributions in $\mathbb{R}^n$ whose domain contains a submanifold on which test functions may be singular.

Abstract:This work aims to build a bridge between probability methods and finite element methods. It starts with considering probability distributions supported in an interval [a,b], which incorporate the traditional probability distributions defined on the whole real space as limit cases on the one hand, lead to a type of spherical probability models with wide potential applications on the other hand. This type of probability has scaling and symmetry feature, and sufficient conditions under which a density function can be generated through discrete polynomial spectrum are given in this work followed by concrete examples. The density function ρ obtained in this way has the advantage of being positive definite. Computer based numerical simulation shows that the theoretically verified criteria for probability distribution are almost optimal with respect to our testing examples. After the establishment of an approximation theorem in L1 space, we propose a probabilistic Galerkin scheme that can be either continuous or discontinuous, which is potentially useful to asymptotically solve some PDEs on the sphere locally and globally.

Under some suitable conditions, we show that W n (·) converges in distribution to a Brownian sheet. Direct consequences of the result are functional central limit theorems for negative dependent random fields. The result is based on some general theorems concerning asymptotically negative dependent random fields, which are of independent interest.

Abstract:This work studies the convexity of a class of positive definite probability measures with density functionsρ=cλ∑n=0∞g(n)Cnλwλ, that are generated through the interval characteristic sequences. We discuss when such measures supported in an interval are convex and demonstrate how convexity is preserved under multiplication by certain multipliers and under the intertwining product. A key message to be delivered from this work is: any integrable function f on the interval with a polynomial expansion that has relatively fast absolute convergence, can be decomposed into a non-unique pair of positive convex interval probabilities (f+,f−)∈Eλ′×Eλ′ up to normalization, in the sense that f=f+−f−, where Eλ′ is a class of convex functions. Consequently not only the study of an interval distribution is reduced to the study of the properties of class Eλ′, but also the discontinuous probabilistic Galerkin schemes can be simplified. As concrete examples the decomposition of polynomials and truncated normal distribution are computed and graphically illustrated. Such interval measures lead to localized spherical probability measures, and as a convex expression of probability measure is a Jensen type inequality for spherical random variables. Based on the spherical information entropy models, one dependent on the domain partition and the other not, we propose three minimization formulations for the probabilistic finite element method, including one that mixes the least-squares and entropy models.
Effective equidistribution of large dimensional measures on affine invariant submanifolds

Abstract:The unstable foliation, that locally is given by changing horizontal components of period coordinates, plays an important role in study of translation surfaces, including their deformation theory and in the understanding of horocycle invariant measures. In this article we show that measures of large dimension on the unstable foliation equidistribute in affine invariant submanifolds and give an effective rate. An analogous result in the setting of homogeneous dynamics is crucially used in the effective density and equidistribution results of Lindenstrauss-Mohammadi and Lindenstrauss--Mohammadi--Wang.

Abstract:With the rapid development of earth observation, remote sensing and geographic information system technology, human can achieve a huge sum of spatial data. Spatial data distribution is the main aspect of spatial information services. One of the main contradictions is that the current limited network bandwidth cannot meet the request for achieving realtime space data. Global Subdivision proposed a new theory of spatial division and data organization. The patches in subdivision grids have the similar size and can cover the globe isotropic and seamlessly. Every patch's identification contains the location and scale information. So, the distribution system based on Global subdivision grid model can flexibly choose the different scale conditions and different spatial resolution data according to the user's interested region and real-time communications. Ultimately, through the multi-scale spatial distribution and progressive transmission, users can achieve the spatial data they want at anytime and anywhere.

Abstract:One of the most elusive challenges within the area of topological data analysis is understanding the distribution of persistence diagrams arising from data. Despite much effort and its many successful applications, this is largely an open problem. We present a surprising discovery: normalized properly, persistence diagrams arising from random point-clouds obey a universal probability law. Our statements are based on extensive experimentation on both simulated and real data, covering point-clouds with vastly different geometry, topology, and probability distributions. Our results also include an explicit well-known distribution as a candidate for the universal law. We demonstrate the power of these new discoveries by proposing a new hypothesis testing framework for computing significance values for individual topological features within persistence diagrams, providing a new quantitative way to assess the significance of structure in data.

Distribution of levels in high-dimensional random landscapes

Abstract:We prove empirical central limit theorems for the distribution of levels of various random fields defined on high-dimensional discrete structures as the dimension of the structure goes to $\infty$. The random fields considered include costs of assignments, weights of Hamiltonian cycles and spanning trees, energies of directed polymers, locations of particles in the branching random walk, as well as energies in the Sherrington--Kirkpatrick and Edwards--Anderson models. The distribution of levels in all models listed above is shown to be essentially the same as in a stationary Gaussian process with regularly varying nonsummable covariance function. This type of behavior is different from the Brownian bridge-type limit known for independent or stationary weakly dependent sequences of random variables.

Abstract:We solve the equivalence problem for rank 3 completely nonholonomic vector distributions with 6-dimensional square on a smooth manifold of arbitrary dimension n under very mild genericity conditions. The main idea is to consider the projectivization of the annihilator of a given 3-dimensional distribution. It is naturally foliated by characteristic curves, which are also called the abnormal extremals of the distribution. The dynamics of vertical fibers along characteristic curves defines certain curves of flags of isotropic and coisotropic subspaces in a linear symplectic space. The problem of equivalence of distributions can be essentially reduced to the differential geometry of such curves. The class of all 3-distributions under consideration is split into a finite number of subclasses according to the Young diagram of their flags. The local geometry of distributions can be recovered from the properties of the symmetry group of so-called flat curves of flags associated with this Young diagram. In each subclass we describe the flat distribution and construct a canonical frame for any other distribution. It turns out that for n>6 in the most nontrivial case the symmetry algebra of the flat distribution can be described in terms of rational normal curves (their secants and tangential developables) in projective spaces and its dimension grows exponentially with respect to n.

Abstract:In this paper, we study non integrable distributions in a Riemannian manifold with a semi-symmetric metric connection, a semi-symmetric non-metric connection and a statistical connection. We obtain the Gauss, Codazzi, and Ricci equations for non integrable distributions with respect to the semi-symmetric metric connection, the semi-symmetric non-metric connection and the statistical connection. As applications, we obtain Chen's inequalities for non integrable distributions of real space forms endowed with a semi-symmetric metric connection and a semi-symmetric non-metric connection. We give some examples of non integrable distributions in a Riemannian manifold with affine connections. We find some new examples of Einstein distributions and distributions with constant scalar curvature.

Abstract:Using a remainder theorem for valuations of a field, we give a new perspective on the norm function of a global field. We define the Euler totient function of a global field and recover the essential analytical properties of the classical arithmetical function, namely the product formula. In addition, we prove the holomorphicity of the associated zeta function. As an application, we recover the analog of the mean value theorem of Erd\H{o}s, Dressler, and Bateman via the Weiner-Ikehara theorem.

Abstract: Let $K$ be a global function field. Using Haar measures, we compute the densities of the Kodiara types and Tamagawa numbers of elliptic curves over a completion of $K$. Also, we prove results about the number of iterations of Tate's algorithm that are completed when the algorithm is used on elliptic curves over a completion of $K$.

Abstract:This is a survey on some recent advances on the mean field equation with multiple singular sources on flat tori, mainly based on a joint project with T.-J. Kuo and C.-S. Lin. Recent theories indicate that this equation has essential relations with several different subjects, such as the complex linear ODE with the Treibich-Verdier potential, Painlevé VI equation and premodular forms. Besides reviewing the known results and announcing new results, I will also raise some open questions from these different aspects.
