Assessment of the application of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in coronary artery disease

Abstract:Objective To assess the application of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(non-HDL-C) in clinical practice. Methods The relationship between non-HDL-C and LDL-C with triglyceride(TG) increasing in 482 samples was observed.384 patients were classified into positive group or negative group according their coronary angiography findings,and their lipids items including non-HDL were measured at the same time.The changes of lipids items including non-HDL-C before and after meal were observed in another 154 patients. Results The relativity of non-HDL-C and LDL-C with TG increasing declined.The coronary angiography positive group showed higher non-HDL-C than the coronary angiography negative group [(3.60±1.10) mmol/L vs(3.18±0.64) mmol/L,P=0.002].The non-HDL-C was not statistically affected by meal,but other lipids items including TG,HDL-C or LDL-C were influenced significantly. Conclusions Non-HDL-C showed a good relationship to CHD.It raises awareness of the benefits of using non-HDL-C in clinical practice.
