Abstract:Superhydrophobic surfaces with switchable wettability have attracted intense attention in recent years. However, the majority of switchable wettability surfaces only fulfill a single demand, while achieving multi-functional integration remains a challenge. Herein, we proposed a simple uniaxial pre-stretched process for fabricating graphene-based superhydrophobic surfaces with controllable wrinkled patterns. The surface shows superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle (WCA) of 152° and a sliding angle (SA) of 5°, which is correlated with the wavelength of the micro-wrinkle. The wavelength of micro-wrinkles varies with elongation of the stretched film and the reversible deformation of the film allows free switching of wettability. Thus, the surface can accurately capture and release droplets through deformations without energy supplies and specific equipment, enabling the non-destructive transport of droplets. It's worth noting that the surface exhibits good self-sensing properties that accurately respond to strain and droplets, which endows the surface with real-time monitoring of droplet transport. What's more, the surface recognizes the distance to the droplet and the size of the captured droplet, making intelligent droplet manipulation possible. The smart superhydrophobic surface shows great potential in the field of microfluidic devices and wearable e-skin due to its good flexibility and sensing properties.
