Investigation of Regular Health Checkup, Intention of Seeking Health Checkup and Situation of Health Education in Residents of Xietu District

Abstract:Objective To investigate regular health checkup,intention of seeking health checkup and situation of participating health education in residents of Xietu District,and provide scientific evidence for decision-making of community health services.Methods Questionnaire about regular health checkup and intention of seeking health checkup and situation of participating health education were performed in six hundred residents aged over 40 in four neighborhood committees of Xietu district during October of 2009.Results 70.17% of residents had chronic diseases,92.50% of residents care about their own health status,only 9.00% of residents felt very healthy,80.33% of residents think it necessary to receive regular health checkup,only 10.67% of residents underwent health checkup at least once a year,55.33% of residents preferred health checkup in second or first-class hospitals and 53.33% of residents preferred second or first-class hospitals for medical service,21.13% of residents often took part in health-education activities and 42.55% of residents were satisfied with the quality of itinerant lecture of community.Conclusion All of investigated residents paid considerable attention to self-health,but there were a large mount of bias and misunderstanding on health checkup and medical conception,the rate of participation and satisfaction of health education are relatively low,enhancement of health education and improvement of quality of itinerant lecture are needed.
