Abstract:Outbreak of an acute high fever disease occurred on a large-scale pig farm.Five samples of lung tissue and serum were collected from the death pig,and RT-PCR was performed to amplify the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome NSP2 gene.Three samples proved to be PRRSV-positive and were designated as scwhn01,scwhn02 and scwhn03.The Nsp2 genes of scwhn01 were cloned and sequenced. The results revealed discontinuous deletions of 90 nucleotide of the Nsp2 gene.Sequence analysis showed that the Nsp2 gene shared 73.3%-91% nucleotide homologies compared with other high pathogenic PRRSV strains VR2332,JXA1,BJ-4,HuN4,CH-1a,HB-1(sh)2002 and HB-2(sh)2002.One Haemophilus parasuis strain and one Escherichia coli strain were isolated and designated as SNC0901and SNC0902.Sensitivity test with 17 kinds antibiotics showed that the bacteria were sensitive to ceftiofur and cephalothin, moderately sensitive to ticarcillin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and drug-resistant to gentamicin, lincomycin, amikacin and oxytetracycline. The above results indicated that a highly pathogenic PRRSV mixed infection with H.parasuis and E.coli led to the death of a large number of pigs on the farm.
