Abstract:To optimize the dietary crude protein(CP) and metabolic energy(ME) level for layers under heat stress condition,28-weeks-old Hy-Line Brown layers(n=1 620) were randomly assigned to 9 dietary treatments(4 replicates of 160 birds per treatment) in a 3×3 factorial arrangement. The dietary treatments fed for 28 d contained 10.67,11.30 and 11.72 MJ/kg ME of diet each in combination with 16.5%,17.4% and 18.0% CP.Results showed that,as dietary CP or ME level increased, the egg production/day and egg size increased significantly(P<0.05) and average feed intake decreased significantly(P<0.05).There was interaction for average feed intake and feed/egg ratio, while no interaction for egg production/day and egg size between CP and ME was observed; No significant difference was observed for egg-shape index, haugh unit, eggshell thickness and relative eggshell weight, while dietary ME had a significant(P<0.05) effect on eggshell strength. Conclusions:Different levels of ME and CP diets could influence layers' performance, egg quality and apparent digestibility of nutrients under heat stress. When the diet ME,CP level was 11.72 MJ/kg,18.0%,the layers could obtain better performance.
