Abstract:In this paper the transport equation of pollutants in bed sediment was established.The equation quantitatively reflects the factors affecting the fate and transport of pollutants in terms of the flow intensity,bed material size,and channel bed variations.It gives the dynamic characteristics of the temporal and spatial variation of the pollutants absorbed by bed sediment.Application of the equation to the simulation of the fate and transport of the petroleum hydrocarbons was also presented in this paper.Comparisons between simulations and observations indicate that results obtained in this paper may be the basis of the study on the transport of pollutants in bed sediments of alluvial rivers.
