Investigation on Present On-the-job training among Community Nurses in Suburbs of Beijing

Abstract:Objective To investigation the present training situation among community nurses in the suburbs of Beijing,find the existing problems and causes,and provide the basis for the construction of talents team of community nurses.Methods By using by the method of stratified random sampling,a questionnaire survey was conducted 302 nurses from 38 community health service institutions of 3 suburbs in Beijing.The administrators of the institutions were also interviewed.Results Most of the community nurses in the community health service institutions of suburbs were with a low academic qualifications and seniority.119(39.40%) nurses had the chances of on-the-job training,63(20.86%) had the chances of short-term training;21(6.95%) had the chances of further studies.The expected training mode of them included on-the-job training(87.09%),direction in their own hospital by external experts(52.65%),further study in secondary or higher grade hospitals(49.34%),further study in developed community health service institutions(46.69%) and short-term training(34.77%).Conclusion The overall quality and training of community nurses from community health service institutions need to be improved.The training mode and safeguard measures should be developed.
