Abstract:With the prevalence of contemporary social media, online memes have become one of the popular cultural and communication media. This study uses metaphor extraction techniques to explore the design elements of “memes” to attract public use or viewing. Through the ZMRT interview method, Construct is integrated, and the relationship between Attribution (A), Consequences (C) and Values (V) is established by MEC to explore the mental models and thoughts of meme map users. The results of this study show that the design elements of memes need to stimulate the user's senses, express their situation or phenomenon in a concise and clear way, arouse users' recognition and initiate sharing. Abstract:Traditional Chinese settlements are successful examples of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Traditional Chinese settlement culture (TCSC) is the product of its inhabitants' adaptation to the natural and social environment and has national cultural originality and transmission. Core cultural elements of these being chosen to stay can be considered as memes. This study considers traditional Chinese settlement cultural memes (TCSCM) as a special kind of knowledge, and proposes a meme-based approach to mine, organize, and present traditional Chinese settlement cultural knowledge from a knowledge management perspective. This approach is composed of identifying memes, constructing the memes ontology, and the memes knowledge graph, mainly describing and establishing the memes identification index system, the ontology conceptual framework, and knowledge graph construction rules. In addition, the feasibility of the above work is verified by a case study of Jinggang Ancient town in Hunan province. This study provides new practical ideas for the authentic conservation and industrial construction of TCSC.

Abstract:This article discusses about some buildings on Chang An Boulevard in Beding with the methodology of semeiology. Under the discussion we could find that there are some architecture culture symbolic phenomena on the buildings. They are the codes of ages, the culture codes, the sex codes, symbolic expression, display of riches and architectural aphasia, mixed up signs and so on. Some of the designs on architectural codes are good and successful and others are unsuccessfully expressed.

Abstract:Research material is commonly supported by paintings. However, if paintings are viewed as the representation and re-composition of architecture, we can focus on the pattern of the selection, referencing, and re-composition of the form elements. This study applies semiotic theories to architectural studies of the Dunhuang frescoes. It extracts and analyzes the symbols (form elements) in the architectural images of the Northern Dynasties. It also interprets the underlying rules of the selection, adoption, and re-composition of the symbols by component analysis. The presence of commonly adopted components, as well as the semiotic structural system under which the components with distinctive characters can be continuously broken down, endow the seemingly simple Northern Dynasties architectural images with both unity and variation.

Abstract:Architecture is a frozen music, a visual art, and a visual object whose existence is witnessed by history. Some classic ancient architectures including the pyramids of ancient Egypt, the Parthenon of ancient Greece, the Pantheon of ancient Rome, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Hanging Temple of China and other world-famous traditional Chinese and Western architectures reflect ancient philosophical thoughts of the times. Architecture has formed a unique culture with the passage of time, and in turn culture plays an influential role to the formation of architecture. Geographical differences cause diversity to architectural cultures all round the world. In terms of Chines and western ancient architecture, the two differ each other on appearance, connotation, space and structure, which indicate not only the culture characteristics but also the aesthetic changes behind the architectures between China and the West.The West's passion for stone architecture and the East's passion for wood architecture are determined by national culture and geographical environment. It is difficult to judge which one is superior, sine such designs are developed to adapt to the environment and living habits. Ancient people built their characteristic architecture to meet the needs of the local people and living conditions.
