Abstract:Twelve undescribed alkaloids, including eight pyrrolo[3,2-g]isoquinoline alkaloids (+)/(-)-anacyquinoline A (1a/1b), (±)-anacyquinoline B (2), (+)/(-)-anacyquinoline C (3a/3b), (±)-anacyquinoline D (4), (±)-anacyquinoline E (5), and (±)-anacyquinoline F (6), together with four pyrrolo[2,3-g]quinoline alkaloids (+)/(-)-anacyquinoline G (7a/7b), (±)-anacyquinoline H (8), and (±)-anacyquinoline I (9), were isolated from the roots of Anacyclus pyrethrum (L.) DC. Their structures were determined via spectroscopic analyses (UV, IR, NMR), HRESIMS, quantum chemical calculations of ECD, DP4+ analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (Cu Kα). Furthermore, in bioassay, (+)/(-)-anacyquinoline G (7a/7b) and (±)-anacyquinoline H (8) showed inhibition on nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide -induced RAW 264.7 cells with IC50 values of 41.4, 44.1, and 31.4 μM, respectively, indicating their potential anti-inflammatory bioactivity.

Abstract:Two new pyrrolidine alkaloids, acanthophoraines B (1) and C (2), together with five known ones (3-7) were isolated from the red alga Acanthophora spicifera. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The absolute configuration of 2 was established by ECD calculation. The antibacterial activities of 1-7 were also evaluated.

Abstract:Two novel major alkaloids, deoxycalyciphylline B (1) and deoxyisocalyciphylline B (2) with a unique fused hexacyclic skeleton, together with a quite recently reported alkaloid calyciphylline B (3), were isolated from the stem of Daphniphyllum subverticillatum. Their structures were established by spectral methods and chemical evidence, especially 2D NMR techniques. The structure of 1 was further confirmed by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction determination.

Abstract:Three aporphine-type alkaloids (1-3), three lycorine-type alkaloids (4-6), two crinane type alkaloids (7, 8) and one phenanthridine-type alkaloid (9) were isolated from the chloroform soluble fraction of 70% ethanol extract of the bulbs of Lycoris radiata through various column chromatographies over silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20 and MCI. Their structures were elucidated as (+)-N-methoxylcarbonyl-1,2-methylenedioxyl-isocorydione (1), isocorydione (2), 8-demethyl-dehydrocrebanine (3), (+)-3-hydroxy-anhydrolycorine N-oxide (4), vasconine (5), pancratinine D (6), yemenine A (7), 11-O-acetylhaemanthamine (8), and 5,6-dihydro-5-methyl-2-hydroxyphenanthridine (9) based on their chemical and physicochemical properlies and spectroscopic data. Compound 1 was a new compound and alkaloids 2-9 were isolated and identified from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Four new α-pyrones, hypotiens A-D (1-4), were isolated from a fungal endophyte, Hypoxylon investiens J2, harbored in the medicinal plant Blumea balsamifera. Their structures were determined through detailed HRMS and NMR spectroscopic data. Compounds 1-4 are new α-pyrone derivatives containing an unusual dimethyl substitution in the highly unsaturated side chain. Their plausible biosynthetic pathway was discussed. Biological assay indicated that compounds 1-4 showed no antimicrobial, quorum sensing inhibitory, and cytotoxic activities. The specific side chain in α-pyrone derivatives 1-4 might be responsible for the weak pharmacological activities.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the chemical constituents from the roots of Polyalthia laui.Methods:The constituents from Polyalthia laui were isolated and purified by the chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,and semi preparation HPLC.Their structures were identified on the basis of physiochemical characteristics and spectroscopic data analysis.Results:Eleven alkaloids were isolated from the roots of Polyalthia laui and identified as isooncodine(1),onychine(2),5,8-dihydroxy-6-methoxy onychine(3),darienine (4),O-methylmoschatoline (5),isomoschatolin (6),oxostephanine (7),liriodenine (8),N-p-coumaroyltyramine (9),northalifoline (10) and corydaldine (11).Conclusion:All the compounds are isolated from this plant for the first time,compounds 3,6,10,11 are reported from the Polyalthia genus for the first time.

Abstract:Extraction and chromatographic separation of the extracts of dried leaves of Glycosmis lucida lead to the isolation of a new acridone alkaloid lucidaine A ( 1 ), along with two known analogues 2 and 3 . The structure of 1 was established by extensive spectroscopic analysis (1D and 2D NMR, HR-ESI-MS), and the known compounds were identified by comparisons with data reported in the literature. Furthermore, the cytotoxicity activities of all isolated alkaloids in vitro were evaluated.

Abstract:A new aporphine glycoside, (-)-anolobine-9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside was isolated from the twigs of pawpaw (Asimina triloba) along with 7 known alkaloids including five aporphine alkaloids (anolobine, nornuciferine, norushinsunine, liriodenine, and lysicamine), a proaporhine alkaloid (stepharine), and a tetrahydrobenzylisoquinoline alkaloid (coclaurine). Among these compounds, nornuciferine, lysicamine, stepharine, and coclaurine are reported for the first time from this plant. The structure of the new compound was elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 1 D, 2 D NMR, and HRESI-MS. The absolute configuration of compounds 1, 2, 7 and 8 was determined by CD experiment.

Abstract:Five new yuzurimine-type alkaloids, yunnandaphnines A-E (2-6), together with two known analogues, macrodaphniphyllamine (1) and calycinine A (7), have been isolated from the leaves and twigs of Daphniphyllum yunnanense. The structures of the new alkaloids were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Yunnandaphnine E (6) is a novel heptacyclic yuzurimine-type alkaloid with an oxazine ring.

Abstract:Three alkaloids, flavensomycinoic acid (1), a linear polyketide, alpiniamide (2), and cyclo (L-Trp-L-Ala) (3), were isolated from the culture filtrate of endophytic Streptomyces sp. YIM66017 from Alpinia oxyphylla. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and the structure of 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Compound 1 was isolated from a natural source for the first time, and compound 2 is a new compound. Compound 1 showed cytotoxicity to MCF-7 with an IC 50 value of 17.0 μM.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents from the aerial parts of Anabasis aphylla. Methods The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by silica gel column and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. Spectroscopic methods such as MS and NMR spectra were used for the structural identification. Results A new caffeate ester, named eicosyl-(Z)-caffeate (1), along with fourteen known compounds was isolated from the EtOAc part. Conclusion Compound 1 is a new compound and compounds 2−13 are isolated from the plants of Anabasis L. for the first time.

Abstract:The first chemical study on the stems and leaves of Daphniphyllum yunnanense led to the isolation of five new alkaloids, daphniyunnines A-E (1-5). Daphniyunnines B-E (2-5) are four unusual C-22 nor-Daphniphyllum alkaloids. The structures of these alkaloids were characterized by spectroscopic methods, especially 2D NMR techniques. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis was used to confirm the structure of 1. Daphniyunnine D (4) showed cytotoxicity against two tumor cell lines, P-388 and A-549, with IC50 values of 3.0 and 0.6 mu M, respectively.

Abstract:Three new akuamillan-type indole alkaloids, i.e., 5-methoxystrictamine (=methyl (5 beta,16R,19E)-5-methoxyakuammilan-17-oate; 1), methyl (16R,19E)-1,2-dihydro-16-(hydroxymethyl)-5-oxoakuammilan-17-oate (2), and methyl (2 beta 16R,19E)-4,5-didehydro-1,2-dihydro-2-hydroxy-16-(hydroxymethyl)akuammilan-4-ium-17-oate chloride (3), have been isolated from the leaves of Alstonia scholaris, together with ten known compounds. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic means. None of the constituents showed significant cytotoxic activity towards WT cells.
