Abstract:Using the framework of the Heavy Quark Effective Theory we have re-analyzed the Isgur-Wise function describing semi-leptonic Lambda(b) -> Lambda(c) decays in the QCD sum rule approach. The slope parameter of the Isgur-Wise function is found to be rho(2) = 1.35 +/- 0.13, which is consistent with an experimental measurement and a lattice calculation. To O(1/m(b,) 1/m(c)) of the heavy quark expansion the integrated Ab decay width is used to extract the CKM matrix element V-cb for which we obtain a value of /V-cb/ = 0.041 +/- 0.004 +/- 0.001 in excellent agreement with the value of /V-cb/ determined from semileptonic B -> D* decays. Abstract:The most general form of covariant B-S wave functions and the corresponding integral equations for heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity are obtained in the infinite mass limit. A general formula for the I-W functions for transitions between states with arbitrary spin-parity and the ground state is given in terms of these wave functions. Using the covariant instantaneous approximation we apply this formulism to calculate I-W functionsr1/2,r3/2 and rates of processes in which a p or ? is emitted in the transitions 1-?0-, 0+?0-, 1+?1-.

Abstract:The most general form of the Bethe-Salpeter (BS) wave functions for mesons of arbitrary spin and definite parity is given. Using the BS equation, the constraints on the BS wave function due to assuming the covariant instantaneous approximation are found. The application of the general formalism to heavy mesons is given and, in particular, the results from the spin SU(2) symmetry of the heavy quark are naturally obtained in the infinite quark mass limit.

Abstract:We consider a combination of linear confining and Hulthén potentials in the Hamiltonian and via the perturbation approach, report the corresponding Isgure-Wise function parameters. Next, we investigate the Isgur-Wise Function for $\overline{B}\longrightarrow Dl\overline{\nu}$ and $\overline{B_{s}}\longrightarrow D_{s}l\overline{\nu}$ semileptonic decays and report the decay width, branching ratio and $|V_{cb}|$ CKM matrix element. A comparison with other models and experimental values is included.

Abstract:Using the relativistic BS equation with the kernel containing a confinement term and a gluon exchange term in a covariant generalization of the Coulomb gauge the formula for masses of heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity are obtained to the order 1/M. The retardation effect is taken into account. Numerical values for low-lying states of D and B systems are obtained.

Abstract:The continuum limit of the tilted SU(2) spin model is shown to lead to a gauge Landau-Lifshitz equation which provides a unified description for various spin orders. For a definite gauge with zero field strength, we find a double periodic solution, where the conical spiral, in-plane spiral, helical, and ferromagnetic spin orders become special cases. For another gauge with nonzero field strength, we obtain the skyrmion-crystal solution. By simulating the influence of magnetic field and temperature for our model, we find a spontaneous formation of a skyrmion-fragment lattice similar to the spin texture found in experiment very recently; we also obtain a wider range of skyrmion-crystal phase in the parameter space in comparison to the conventional Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya model.

Abstract:We discuss the topics mentioned in the title by scrutinizing and improving the $0^{-+}$ di-gluonia sum rules within the standard SVZ-expansion at N2LO without instantons. First, we reconsider the estimate of the slope of the topological charge $\chi'(0)=24.3(3.4)$ MeV which imply $0.144(5) [\rm data: 0.145(13)]$ for the first moment of the polarized proton structure function (proton spin) and $G_A^{(0)} = 0.337(50) [\rm data=0.330(39)]$ for the singlet form factor of the axial current. Second, we work with high degree moments and parametrize the spectral function beyond the minimal duality ansatz: "One resonance plus QCD continuum" to get the $0^{-+}$ di-gluonia spectra. Then, we obtain three groups of gluonia: The familiar light $\eta_1$ [singlet gluon component of the $\eta'(958)$] with $[M_{\eta_1},f_{\eta_1}]= [825 , 905(72)]$; The two new medium gluonia with $M_{P_{1a}}=1338(112)$ MeV and $[M_{P_{1b}}=1462(117) $ MeV or their mean $[M_{P_1},f_{P_1}]=[1397(81),594(144)]$ MeV which support the gluonium nature of the candidate $\eta(1405)$ and may bring a small gluon piece to the $\eta(1295)$; Their 1st radial excitations: $M_{P'_{1a}}=1508(226)$ MeV and $M_{P'_{1b}}=1553(139)$ MeV with their mean: $[M_{P'_1},f_{P'_1}]=[1541(118),205(282)]$ MeV which may be identified (up to some eventual mixings with $\bar qq$ states) with the $\eta(1475,1700)$ states; The heavy gluonium with : $[M_{P_2}, f_{P_2}]=[2751(140),500(43)]$ MeV comparable with the lattice results. One can remark the (natural) one to one correspondence between the pseudoscalar gluonia and their chiral scalar analogue from Ref.1: $\sigma(1)\to \eta_1;~G_1(1.55)\to P_{1}; [\sigma'(1.1),G'(1.56)]\to P'_{1a,1b};~G_2(3)\to P_2$ which is mainly due to the importance of QCD PT in the sum rule analysis that are almost equal in these two channels. Results for the spectra are in Table 2.

Abstract:We suggest to study the B_s and its excitations B_sJ in the B_c decays. We calculate the B_c→ B_sJ and B_c→ B_J form factors within the covariant light-front quark model, where the B_sJ and B_J denote an s-wave or p-wave b̅s and b̅d meson, respectively. The form factors at q^2=0 are directly computed while their q^2 -distributions are obtained by extrapolation. The derived form factors are then used to study semileptonic B_c→ (B_sJ,B_J)ℓ̅ν decays, and nonleptonic B_c→ B_sJπ . Branching fractions and polarizations are predicted in the standard model. We find that the branching fractions are sizable and might be accessible at the LHC experiment and future high-energy e^+e^- colliders with a high luminosity at the Z -pole. The future experimental measurements are helpful to study the nonperturbative QCD dynamics in the presence of a heavy spectator and also of great value for the study of spectroscopy.

Abstract:The heavy quark effective theory is developed on the light-front. Based on this effective theory, a light-front heavy meson bound state with definite spin and parity is constructed. Within the effective theory, the Isgur-Wise function is derived in terms of the asymptotic light-front bound state amplitudes in the limit $m_Q\rightarrow\infty$; the result is a general expression for arbitrary recoil velocities. With the asymptotic form of the BSW amplitudes, the Isgur-Wise function is given by $\xi(v\cdot v')=1/v\cdot v'$. The slope at the zero-recoil point is $\rho^2=-\xi'(1)=1$, in excellent agreement with the recent CLEO result of $\rho^2=1.01\pm0.15\pm0.09$.

A Comprehensive Analysis of Hadronic B->S Transitions in a Family Non-universal Z' Model

Abstract:Motivated by the latest improved measurements of B-meson decays, we make a comprehensive analysis of the impact of a family non-universal Z' boson on B-s - (B) over bar (s) mixing and two-body hadronic B-meson decays, all being characterized by the quark-level b -> s transition. Explicitly 22 decay modes and the related 52 observables are considered, and some interesting correlations between them are also carefully examined. Firstly, the allowed oases of b - s - Z' coupling parameters |B-sb(L, R)| and phi(L, R)(s) are extracted from B-s - (B) over bar (s) mixing. Then, in the 'SM limit' (i.e., no new types of Z'-induced four-quark operators arise compared to the SM case), we study the Z' effects on B -> pi K, pi K* and rho K decays. It is found that a new weak phase phi(L)(s) similar to - 90 degrees is crucial for resolving the observed 'pi K CP puzzle' and the allowed cases of the other Z' coupling parameters are also strongly restricted. Moreover, the Z' effects on (B) over bar (s) -> KK, KK* and pi(0)phi decays, being induced by the same quark-level b -> sq (q) over bar (q = u, d) transitions, are also investigated. In particular, it is found that the decay (B) over bar (s) -> pi(0)phi, once measured, would play a key role in revealing the observed 'pi K CP puzzle' and probing possible new physics hints. Finally, to check the non-universality of Z' couplings to light-quark pairs, we have studied the B -> phi K decays in detail and found that the left-handed s - s - Z' coupling is different from the d - d - Z' one, which is due to the large A(CP)(dir)(B- -> phi K-) reported by the BaBar Collaboration.
Towards the $β$ function of SU(2) with adjoint matter using Pauli-Villars fields

Abstract:The family of SU(2) theories with matter transforming in the adjoint representation has attracted interest from many angles. The two-flavour theory, known as Minimal Walking Technicolor, has a body of evidence pointing to it being in the conformal window with anomalous dimension $\gamma_{*}\approx0.3$. Perturbative calculations would suggest that the one-flavour theory should be confining and chirally broken; however, lattice studies of the theory have been inconclusive. In this contribution we present a first look at efforts towards the computation of the beta function of these theories using the gradient flow methodology. Following an exploration of the phase diagram of the two theories with Wilson fermions and additional Pauli-Villars fields, we tune the bare fermion mass to near the chiral limit, and subsequently generate ensembles at five lattice volumes and a range of lattice spacings.

The Strong Decays of Orbitally Excited $B^{*}_{sJ}$ Mesons by Improved Bethe-Salpeter Method

Abstract:We calculate the masses and the strong decays of orbitally excited states $B_{s0}$, $B'_{s1}$, $B_{s1}$ and $B_{s2}$ by the improved Bethe-Salpeter method. The predicted masses of $B_{s0}$ and $B'_{s1}$ are $M_{B_{s0}}=5.723\pm0.280 {\rm GeV}$, $M_{B'_{s1}}=5.774\pm0.330 {\rm GeV}$. We calculate the isospin symmetry violating decay processes $B_{s0}\to B_s \pi$ and $B'_{s1}\to B_s^* \pi$ through $\pi^0-\eta$ mixing and get small widths. Considering the uncertainties of the masses, for $B_{s0}$ and $B'_{s1}$, we also calculate the OZI allowed decay channels: $B_{s0}\to B\bar K$ and $B'_{s1}\to B^*\bar K$. For $B_{s1}$ and $B_{s2}$, the OZI allowed decay channels $B_{s1}\to B^{*}\bar K$, $B_{s2}\to B\bar K$ and $B_{s2}\to B^{*}\bar K$ are studied. In all the decay channels, the reduction formula, PCAC relation and low energy theorem are used to estimate the decay widths. We also obtain the strong coupling constants $G_{B_{s0}B_s\pi}$, $G_{B_{s0}B\bar K}$, $G_{B'_{s1}B_s^*\pi}$, $F_{B'_{s1}B_s^*\pi}$, $G_{B'_{s1}B^*\bar K}$, $F_{B'_{s1}B^*\bar K}$, $G_{B_{s1}B^{*}\bar K}$, $F_{B_{s1}B^{*}\bar K}$, $G_{B_{s2}B\bar K}$ and $G_{B_{s2}B^{*}\bar K}$.

Abstract:We study the heavy flavor conserved semi-leptonic decay $B_s\to B\ell\nu$ in the covariant light front approach. The covariant light front quark model is used to calculate the transition form factors of $B_s\to B^{(*)}$ as well as $D_s\to D$, which are consistent with the leading power predictions from the heavy quark symmetry. The angular distribution analysis on the $B_s\to B^{(*)}l\bar\nu$ decay is performed by investigating the forward-backward asymmetry of the lepton. We also study the angular distribution of $B_{s}\to B^{*}(\to B \gamma)l\bar\nu$ decay both through the lepton forward-backward asymmetry and the azimuth angle. The branching fractions of $B_s\to Bl\bar\nu$ and $B_s\to B^{*}l\bar\nu$ are at the order $10^{-8}$ and $10^{-9}$, respectively. The number of $B_s\to B l\bar\nu$ events is estimated to be $1.76$. The branching fraction of $B_{s}\to B^{*}(\to B \gamma)l\bar\nu$ is at the order $10^{-11}$, which is calculated by introducing Breit-Wigner distribution for the intermediate $B^*$.

Atmospheric neutrino mixing and b→s transitions: Testing lopsided SO(10) flavor structure in B physics

Abstract:We point out that the correlation between the large atmospheric neutrino mixing and the b -> s transition, if it exists, comes from the lopsided flavor structure in SO(10) grand unification theory. We suggest testing the correlation by studying the deviation of S-phi KS and (S eta KS)-K-' from the standard model predictions along with the constraints from Delta M-BS and b -> s gamma in a realistic SO(10) model with lopsided flavor structure. We find a specific correlation between S-phi KS and (S eta KS)-K-' that is intrinsic to the lopsided structure and discuss how to confirm or rule out this flavor pattern by the more accurate measurements of these CP violation quantities in B decay.

Abstract:We investigate the QCD phase diagram for small values of baryon and strange quark chemical potentials from simulations at non-zero isospin chemical potential. Simulations at pure isospin chemical potential are not hindered by the sign problem and pion condensation can be observed for sufficiently large isospin chemical potentials. We study how the related phase boundary evolves with baryonic and strange chemical potentials via reweighting in quark chemical potentials and discuss our results. Furthermore, we propose and implement an alternative method to approach nonzero baryon (and strange quark) chemical potentials. This method involves simulations where physical quarks are paired with auxiliary quarks in unphysical "isospin" doublets and a decoupling of the auxiliary quarks by mass reweighting.

Abstract:According to the heavy-quark flavour symmetry, the $B\to \pi, K$ transition form factors could be related to the corresponding ones of D-meson decays near the zero recoil point. With the recent precisely measured exclusive semileptonic decays $D \to \pi \ell \nu$ and $D\to K \ell \nu$, we perform a phenomenological study of $B \to \pi, K$ transition form factors based on this symmetry. Using BK, BZ and Series Expansion parameterizations of the form factor slope, we extrapolate $B \to \pi, K$ transition form factors from $q^{2}_{max}$ to $q^{2}=0$. It is found that, although being consistent with each other within error bars, the central values of our results for $B \to \pi, K$ form factors at $q^2=0$, $f_+^{B\to \pi, K}(0)$, are much smaller than predictions of the QCD light-cone sum rules, but are in good agreements with the ones extracted from hadronic B-meson decays within the SCET framework. Moreover, smaller form factors are also favored by the QCD factorization approach for hadronic B-meson decays.
