The Expression and Clinical Significance of NF-κB and Caspase-9 in Pancreatic Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To study the effects of the expression of NF-κB and Caspase-9 on growth,invasion and metastasis in pancreatic carcinoma,in order to provide some valuable evidence for prognosis and biotherapy.Methods The expression level of NF-κB and Caspase-9 was detected by S-P immunohistochemistry method in 53 cases of pancreatic carcinoma and 10 cases of non-tumorous pancreas tissue.Their relationship with clinic-pathological features and survival was also analyzed.Results(1)The expression ratio of NF-κB in non-tumorous pancreas tissue and in pancreatic carcinoma was 10% and 79.20% respectively,and there was significant difference(P0.01).The NF-κB expression level positively correlated with clinical stages and metastasis of lymph nodes(P0.01).(2) The expression ratio of Caspase-9 in non-tumorous pancreas tissue and in pancreatic carcinoma was 10% and 52.83% respectively,and there was significant difference(P0.05).The Caspase-9 expression level positively correlated with clinical stages and metastasis of lymph nodes(P0.05),and negative correlated with histologic grade(P0.05).(3) There was statistically significant correlation between NF-κB and Caspase-9.Conclusion NF-κB plays an important role in growth,invasion and metastasis in pancreatic carcinoma.Detection of the NF-κB proteins may have potential effects on the prognosis of pancreatic carcinoma.Caspase-9 acts on the apoptosis of the cells,and involves in the development ofpancreatic carcinoma.There was statistically significant correlation between NF-κB and Caspase-9.
