Abstract:Biofinish of wood fiber towel was carried out via orthogonal trials, properties of wood fiber towel before and after enzyme treatment were tested. The optimum conditions were defined as follows: 4% owf enzyme, pH value 4.5, liquor ratio 201, temperature 45 ℃, time 60 minutes. The towels after treatment had obviously improved whiteness and handle.

Abstract:APMP (alkaline peroxide mechanical pulp) of bamboo was treated in NaOH-urea aqueous solution to modify the fiber properties. The effects of soaking time, fiber concentration, alkali dosage, freezing temperature, and freezing time were evaluated by single-factor experiments. The optimal conditions were determined as a soaking time of 10 min, a fiber concentration of 15%, an alkali dosage of 6%, a freezing temperature of -7 °C, and a freezing time of 40 min. Compared with the properties of untreated APMP, the tensile index of the treated APMP was increased by 64%, and the burst index was increased by 82%. The bulk was reduced by 15%, and the softness was increased by 18%. There was no obvious variation on the folding strength. According to the instrumental analysis, there were no significant effects on the structure in terms of functional groups, the crystalline region, or the fiber surface morphology; however, the variation on the fiber quality was more significant.
A study on modification of chemi-mechanical pulping property of wheat straw by pretreatment with ZnCl2aqueous solution

Abstract:In this work, ZnCl2aqueous solution was used to treat wheat straw material to modify the chemi-mechanical pulping property. The effects of ZnCl2dosage, impregnation time, treating temperature, and treating time were evaluated by single-factor experiments. The analysis of FT-IR, XRD and SEM was applied to show the variations in micro-properties of the wheat straw and pulp fibers. The optimal conditions were determined as ZnCl2dosage of 8%, impregnation time of 15min, treating temperature of 70°C, and treating time of 60min. Compared with those of the bleached chemi-thermo-mechanical pulp, the refining energy of the bleached chemi-mechanical pulp by treatment of ZnCl2aqueous solution was decreased by 21.8%, the accept yield was increased by 4.6%, the whiteness was increased by 5.7%, tensile index was increased by 15.3%, burst index was increased by 18.6%, and the bulk was decreased by 2.9%. There were no significant variations in the analysis of FT-IR, XRD or the integral surface morphology of the wheat straw chips and pulps. However, there were a little more damages on the surface of the pulps prepared with pretreatment of ZnCl2aqueous solution.

Abstract:The pretreatment of biomass materials is critical for improvement of the overall production process and product quality. In this work, a dilute zinc chloride (ZnCl2) solution was used to pretreat bamboo chips, followed by defiberization (mechanical pulping). Compared to the results from the traditional chemi-thermomechanical pulping process, the results from this study showed that the refining energy consumption of the modified process was lowered 27%, and the tensile and burst index of the resultant pulp increased 22% and 82%, respectively. The morphological changes on the fiber surface, functional groups, and crystallinity of resultant pulps due to the ZnCl2 treatment were also analyzed.

Abstract:The influences of the chemical agents,oxidative modification and coupling treatment for carbon fiber dispersion and binding properties were investigated.The fiber suface morphology was analyzed by the image of fiber analyzer,and the fiber dispersion was reflected by the Zeta potential of slurry,absorbency and digital pictures.The functional paper were prepared with a different ratio of carbon fiber and pulp,and the physical strength and volume resistivity of the paper were tested.The results showed that: the effect of tween-80 was the best in four kinds of chemial agents,coupling modification significantly improved the dispersion performance of carbon fiber,superior than oxidative modification,the increase of the dispersion would enhance the conductivity and physical strength of functional paper,and 30% content of carbon fiber achieved the "percolation threshold" of conductive material.

Abstract:In order to improve the spinnability of the kenaf fibres, alkali oxygen-soft bath step method was used in refinement process for kenaf. Four parameters, such as alkali treatment time, concentrations of pre-alkalithe, alkali and hydrogen peroxide were optimized by multiple indicator orthogonal experimental method based on the evaluation factors of fiber fineness, breaking strength and softness. The basic physical properties, SEM, FTIR of treated kenaf fiber were tested. The results showed that the optimal parameters were alkali concentration of 10%, pre-alkalithe concentration of 1.2%, hydrogen peroxide concentration of 1.2%, and treatment time of 2.5 h. The refinement fineness, softness, and breaking strength of Kenaf fiber are 13.83 dtex, 33.75 r/10 cm, 4.13 cN/dtex respectively, compared with those of untreated fibers, that reduced by 66.1%, improved by 25.1%, improved by 25.9%!respectively. SEM and FTIR show that the fine treatment fibers have low surface impurities, high surface roughness and soimproved spinnability.
Modification on the Chemi-mechanical Pulping Property of Rice Straw with Alkali-urea System

Abstract:NaOH-thiourea-urea aqueous solution was used to modify the chemi-mechanical pulping property of rice straw. The effects of alkali dosage, soaking time, treating temperature, and treating time were evaluated by single-factor experiments. Abstract:In the present day, numerous researchers have paid more attention to the dyeing and finishing quality of environmentally friendly textile products in the world because the lack of outstanding products is an alarming problem. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to treat the fabric with cellulase enzymes to improve the dyeing and finishing quality. The effects of varying chemical concentrations, temperatures, and processing times were examined in the model and different process parameters were optimized in the preparation biosingeing process. The results of the Box–Behnken design were obtained as R2 = 0.7243, 0.9027, and 0.9966 for optimum absorbency, weight loss, and tensile strength, respectively. The treated fabric was analyzed using FTIR to know the unknown functional group and the chemical bonds on the fabric molecule. Testing of physical properties of the treated fabric was done and the result was comparable with other untreated fabrics. The treated fabric performance was studied at 40, 50, and 60 minutes and at temperatures of 30, 55, and 80°C. The experimental investigation has been carried out to determine the effect of biosingeing on different physical parameters, such as the tensile strength of treated cotton fabric (437 N), which was almost similar to that of the untreated fabric (443 N), with almost no significant differences. K/S value for the biosingeing fabric of treated fabric was 17.58, but the that of the untreated fabric was 15.6, which was significantly different. Thus, the enzymatically treated fabric is of good quality because the protruding fiber was removed in biosingeing process. This ecofriendly singeing preparatory process is an alternative process for terry towel fabrics.

Abstract:The application of fiber modification enzymes in the refining of softwood pulps in production of high-grade fine paper was investigated in this paper. Through enzymes’ treatment, the refining energy consumption decreased significantly by 76 kWh per ton of pulp. The FQA analysis show that after enzymes’ treatment, fiber length and width are reduced, the content of fine fibers is decreased, the number of fiber bundle is also reduced and fiber curl, kink decrease. Application performance demonstrates paper formation is improved obviously, tension, stiffness and tearing strength increase simultaneously.

Abstract:In this paper, the application of the ultrasonic technology to the enzyme desizing pretreatment of polylactic acid (PLA) fiber was studied, and the different effect of such technology and traditional treatment on the PLA properties was also discussed. The results showed that, with the aid of the ultrasonic wave, the mass decrease rate and the whiteness of fiber increased 15% and 25% respectively, while the tear strength decreased nearly 6% after the enzyme pretreatment. Besides, the time of ultrasonic pretreatment also decreased 20% compared with traditional process. The optimal enzyme desizing conditions and fomula were accomplished, the concentration of H2O2 and refining agent should be 6 mL/L and 4 g/L, the recommended enzyme concentration was 5 g/L.

Abstract:In this paper, compared with the traditional desizing process, the ultrasonic technology was applied to the pretreatment of PLA fabric combined with enzyme. The results showed that the fabric weight loss rate and the whiteness of the fabric increased 15% and 20% respectively after the ultrasonic treatment. Besides, the efficiency of the ultrasonic method also increased by 20% time saving.

Abstract:A biological treatment technique for wool textile was carried out by enzymes degradation coupled with H2O2 oxidation. The results demonstrated that the technique had ideal effects on wool textile such as better softness, plump and less loss of bursting stress. Because of mild reaction conditions, less textile damage and less environmental pollution, this technique for wool textile treatment could have promising prospect.

Abstract:The objective is to investigate the effect of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (APDBD) plasma and subsequent cellulase enzyme treatment on the properties of flax fabrics. The changes of surface morphology and structure, physico-mechanical properties, hydrophilicity, bending properties, whiteness, and dyeing properties of the treated substrate were investigated. The results indicated that atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge plasma pre-treatment and subsequent cellulase enzyme treatment could diminish the hairiness of flax fabrics, endowing the flax fabrics with good bending properties, water uptake and fiber accessibility while keeping their good mechanical properties compared with those treated with cellulase enzyme alone.

Abstract:We developed multiple-component enzyme that was specially applicated to pretreatment processing of linen fiber and fabrics.Investigated the mechanism of reaction and process in pretreatment of linen fiber and fabrics.Experiments proved that application of enzyme technology could replace old-fashioned high temperature and thick alkali desizing scouring sodium hypochlorite bleaching treatment,carry out clean production,get rid of harm of AOX,shorten the process,largely reduce total cost,and improve characteristics and handle of the fabrics.

Abstract:The effects of permonosulphate combined with enzyme treatment on wool fabric properties were studied and the process of enzyme mixture treatment was optimized.SEM and FTIR-ATR analysis was applied to probe the surface chemical and physical structure natures of the modified wool.The results indicate that the process of enzyme mixture treatment is effective on the wool surface modification.The shrinking-resistance of the treated wool fabric subjected 50 washes reached a similar level to chlorinated wool,and the whiteness of the treated wool is better than that of chlorinated wool.SEM and FTIR-ATR analysis showed that the surface disulfide bonds and surface lipid were modified/removed by the combined treatments effectively.

Abstract:In the article,it researched the biopretreatment agent in the wool fiber modified with enzyme,then determinated the techlology parametr of lipase treatment by the orthogonal test.The lipase could degrade the lipids of wool surface availably and improve the hydrophilic character of the wool fiber,since the dye-uptake of dye was promoted evidently.It compared lipase,H_2O_2 and chlorinating agent.The result showed the lower demagement and better effect of degrading the lipids for wool fiber.So it is practical to degrade the lipids of wool surface with the lipase instead of chemical pretreatment agent.

Abstract:The presence of cuticle is the primary problem factor contributing to felting shrinkage, hydrophobicity, and yellowness in wool fabric. Substantial disulfide bonds forming cross-links within the scale layer result in an extraordinarily dense structure. During dyeing and finishing processes, the scale layer poses a significant barrier, impeding the efficient penetration of various chemicals. To mitigate the hindrance due to disulfide bonds in the scales, this study employed a cold pad-batch (CPB) reduction pretreatment followed by H 2 O 2 bleaching to treat woolen fabrics. The physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of the treated wool were evaluated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Allwörden reaction, whiteness index measurement, wettability assessment, felting properties examination, dyeing performance analysis, Raman spectroscopy, and tensile testing. The results indicated a 23.50% increase in the whiteness index with minimal damage to the strength of the fabric. Furthermore, the water absorption time decreased from 300 s to 6 s, and felting shrinkage was decreased to <10%. These findings indicate significant improvements in the hydrophilicity and anti-felting properties of the wool. Additionally, SEM and Allwörden reactions demonstrated substantial changes in the morphology and structure of the fibers after the pretreatment, corroborated by dyeing performance results. Raman spectra exhibited that the relative content of disulfide bonds within the scale layer decreased from 30.95% to 20.95%. It saved more than 20% of water consumption and 70% of energy consumption. The combination process greatly improved the properties of wool fibers without further damage to the main body.

Abstract:The enhancement of the physical and mechanical properties and the anti-mildew performance of wood–plastic composites are of great significance for broadening their application field. In this research, bamboo fibers underwent treatments with safe, environmentally friendly bio-enzymes. Subsequently, a bamboo–plastic composite (BPC) was developed using the modified bamboo fibers and polyethylene. The effects of biological enzymatic treatments on the surface free energy, the chemical composition of the bamboo fibers, water resistance, thermal stability, bending performance, impact performance, and anti-mildew performance of the BPC samples were analyzed. This study revealed that treating bamboo powder with bio-enzymes (xylanase, lipase, laccase, pectinase, hemicellulase, or amylase) decreased the surface free energy and the polar components of the bamboo fibers while improving the surface O/C atomic ratio of the bamboo fibers. These enzyme treatments enhanced the water resistance, bending performance, and anti-mildew performance of the BPC samples. However, on the whole, the thermal stability of the composites decreased. Particularly, after hemicellulase treatment, the composites had the lowest water absorption, reflecting a decrease of 68.25% compared to the control group. With xylanase modification, the 24 h water absorption thickness swelling rate of the composites was the lowest, reflecting a decrease of 71.27% compared to the control group. After pectinase modification, the static bending strength and elastic modulus of the prepared composites were the highest, with an increase of 15.45% and 13.31%, respectively, compared to the unmodified group. After xylanase modification, the composites exhibited the best anti-mildew effect, with an anti-mold effectiveness of 74.67%. In conclusion, bio-enzyme treatments can enhance the physical and mechanical properties and anti-mildew performance of BPCs. This research provides a theoretical foundation for the preparation of high-performance wood–plastic composites.

Abstract:Literature information on the application of protease enzyme pretreatment followed by finishing treatment on wool-blended textiles for improving their performance properties is still inadequate. Wool/cotton union fabric was pretreated with savinase and papain enzymes separately followed by finishing with nine different finishing combinations. Savinase pretreatment had an influencing effect on handle and smoothness properties while papain pretreatment had improved comfort and mechanical properties. Each finishing formulation gave specific performance property in addition to softness. It is concluded that savinase pretreatment followed by Sandosoft-SPG+Ceraperm-MW+Ceraperm-Aqua combination finishing could be used to impart both softening and comfort finish to the wool/cotton union fabric.
