Abstract:A notion of super operator system is defined which generalizes the usual notion of operator systems to include certain unital involutive operator spaces which cannot be represented completely isometric as a concrete operator system on some Hilbert space. They can nevertheless be represented by bounded operators on a standard Z_2-graded Hilbert space equipped with a superinvolution. We apply this theory to investigate on the relation between certain tensor products defined for operator spaces and C^*-algebras, such as the projective tensor product, the Haagerup tensor product and the maximal C^*-tensor product.

Abstract:We study the space of $p$-compact operators $\mathcal K_p$, using the theory of tensor norms and operator ideals. We prove that $\mathcal K_p$ is associated to $/d_p$, the left injective associate of the Chevet-Saphar tensor norm $d_p$ (which is equal to $g_{p'}'$). This allows us to relate the theory of $p$-summing operators with that of $p$-compact operators. With the results known for the former class and appropriate hypothesis on $E$ and $F$ we prove that $\mathcal K_p(E;F)$ is equal to $\mathcal K_q(E;F)$ for a wide range of values of $p$ and $q$, and show that our results are sharp. We also exhibit several structural properties of $\mathcal K_p$. For instance, we obtain that $\mathcal K_p$ is regular, surjective, totally accessible and characterize its maximal hull $\mathcal K_p^{max}$ as the dual ideal of the $p$-summing operators, $\Pi_p^{dual}$. Furthermore, we prove that $\mathcal K_p$ coincides isometrically with $\mathcal {QN}_p^{dual}$, the dual ideal of the quasi $p$-nuclear operators.

Abstract:Tensor product operators on finite dimensional Hilbert spaces are studied. The focus is on bilinear tensor product operators. A tensor product operator on a pair of Hilbert spaces is a maximally general bilinear operator into a target Hilbert space. By 'maximally general' is meant every bilinear operator from the same pair of spaces to any Hilbert space factors into the composition of the tensor product operator with a uniquely determined linear mapping on the target space. There are multiple distinct tensor product operators of the same type; there is no "the" tensor product. Distinctly different tensor product operators can be associated with different parts of a multipartite system without difficulty. Separability of states, and locality of operators and observables is tensor product operator dependent. The same state in the target state space can be inseparable with respect to one tensor product operator but separable with respect to another, and no tensor product operator is distinguished relative to the others; the unitary operator used to construct a Bell state from a pair of |0>'s being highly tensor product operator-dependent is a prime example. The relationship between two tensor product operators of the same type is given by composition with a unitary operator. There is an equivalence between change of tensor product operator and change of basis in the target space. Among the gains from change of tensor product operator is the localization of some nonlocal operators as well as separability of inseparable states. Examples are given.

Abstract:This paper introduces a new class of multivariable operators called $ (n_1, \cdots, n_m) $-hyponormal tuples, which combine joint normal and joint hyponormal operators. A tuple of operators $ \mathcal{Q} = (\mathcal{Q}_1, \; \cdots, \mathcal{Q}_m) $ is said to be an $ (n_1, \cdots, n_m) $-hyponormal tuple for some $ (n_1, \cdots, n_m)\in \mathbb{N}^m $ if \begin{document}$ \sum\limits_{1\leq k,\;l\leq m}\big\langle[\mathcal{Q}_k^{*n_k}, \;\mathcal{Q}_l^{n_l}]\omega_k\mid \omega_l\big\rangle\geq 0, \quad \forall\; (\omega_k)_{1\leq k\leq m}\in {\mathcal K}^m. $\end{document} We show several properties of this class that correspond to the properties of joint hyponormal operators.

Abstract:In this short note, we obtain a concrete description of rank-one operators in Alg(ℒ1 ⊗…⊗ ℒn). Based on this characterisation, we give a simple proof of the tensor product formula: if Alg(ℒ1 ⊗…⊗ ℒn) is weakly generated by rank-one operators in itself and ℒi(i = 1,…,n) are subspace lattices.

Abstract:Given an operator $\phi:X\rightarrow Y$ between Banach spaces, we consider its tensor powers $\phi^{\otimes k}$ as operators from the $k$-fold injective tensor product of $X$ to the $k$-fold projective tensor product of $Y$. We show that after taking the $k$th root, the operator norm of $\phi^{\otimes k}$ converges to the $2$-dominated norm $\gamma^*_2(\phi)$, one of the standard operator ideal norms.

Abstract:The H-matrices are an important class in the matrix theory, and have many applications. Recently, this concept has been extended to higher order ?-tensors. In this paper, we establish important properties of diagonally dominant tensors and ?-tensors. Distributions of eigenvalues of nonsingular symmetric ?-tensors are given. An ?+-tensor is semi-positive, which enlarges the area of semi-positive tensor from ?-tensor to ?+-tensor. The spectral radius of Jacobi tensor of a nonsingular (resp. singular) ?-tensor is less than (resp. equal to) one. In particular, we show that a quasi-diagonally dominant tensor is a nonsingular ?-tensor if and only if all of its principal sub-tensors are nonsingular ?-tensors. An irreducible tensor Ais an ?-tensor if and only if it is quasi-diagonally dominant.

Abstract:Let $A$ and $B$ be two densely defined unbounded closeable operators in a Hilbert space such that their unbounded operator products $AB$ and $BA$ are also densely defined. Then all four operators possess adjoints and we obtain new inclusion bounds for the operator product closures $\bar{A} \bar{B}$ and $\bar{AB}$ in terms of new relations among the operator adjoints. These in turn lead to sharpened understandings for when products of unbounded self-adjoint and unbounded normal operators are self-adjoint and normal. They also clarify certain operator-product issues for Dirac operators.

Abstract:The nonsymmetric algebraic Riccati equation is proposed by using the tensor product. The existence of its minimal nonnegative solution is studied. The sufficient condition of the existence and the uniqueness of the minimal nonnegative solution is given by M-tensor as well. The solution can be obtained by the fast Fourier transform which save computational cost of computing the required solution. Some numerical experiments are performed.

Abstract:Spectral asymptotics of a tensor product of compact operators in Hilbert space with known marginal asymptotics is studied. Methods of A. Karol', A. Nazarov and Ya. Nikitin (Trans. AMS, 2008) are generalized for operators with almost regular marginal asymptotics. In many (but not all) cases it is shown, that tensor product has almost regular asymptotics as well. Obtained results are then applied to the theory of small ball probabilities of Gaussian random fields.

Abstract:Let $A$ and $B$ be compact operators over a topological space $X$ and suppose that these operators are normal and have same distinct eigenvalues at each point. By obstruction theory, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for $A$ and $B$ to be strongly unitarily equivalent. When $X=S^1$, we also give a sufficient condition for $A$ and $B$ to be approximately unitarily equivalent with some assumption on their eigenvalues.

Abstract:In this work, we investigate the tensor inequalities in the tensor t-product formalism. The inequalities involving tensor power are proved to hold similarly as standard matrix scenarios. We then focus on the tensor norm inequalities. The well-known arithmetic-geometric mean inequality, H{\" o}lder inequality, and Minkowski inequality are generalized to tensors. Furthermore, we obtain some t-eigenvalue inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that a multilinear singular integral operator $T$ on product spaces can be extended to a compact multilinear operator from $L^{p_1}(w_1^{p_1}) \times \cdots \times L^{p_m}(w_m^{p_m})$ to $L^p(w^p)$ for all exponents $\frac1p = \sum_{j=1}^m \frac{1}{p_j} > 0$ with $p_1, \ldots, p_m \in (1, \infty]$ and for all weights $\vec{w} \in A_{\vec{p}}(\mathbb{R}^{n_1} \times \mathbb{R}^{n_2})$ if the following hypotheses are satisfied: (H1) $T$ admits a compact full kernel representation, (H2) $T$ admits a compact partial kernel representation, (H3) $T$ satisfies the weak compactness property, (H4) $T$ satisfies the diagonal $\mathrm{CMO}$ condition, and (H5) $T$ satisfies the product $\mathrm{CMO}$ condition. This is a multilinear compact extension of Journé's $T1$ theorem on product spaces.

Abstract:We continue the study of multidimensional operator multipliers initiated in [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math/0701645" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math/0701645">arXiv:math/0701645</a>]. We introduce the notion of the symbol of an operator multiplier. We characterise completely compact operator multipliers in terms of their symbol as well as in terms of approximation by finite rank multipliers. We give sufficient conditions for the sets of compact and completely compact multipliers to coincide and characterise the cases where an operator multiplier in the minimal tensor product of two C*-algebras is automatically compact. We give a description of multilinear modular completely compact completely bounded maps defined on the direct product of finitely many copies of the C*-algebra of compact operators in terms of tensor products, generalising results of Saar.

Conditionally positive definiteness in operator theory

Abstract:In this paper we extensively investigate the class of conditionally positive definite operators, namely operators generating conditionally positive definite sequences. This class itself contains subnormal operators, $2$- and $3$-isometries and much more beyond them. Quite a large part of the paper is devoted to the study of conditionally positive definite sequences of exponential growth with emphasis put on finding criteria for their positive definiteness, where both notions are understood in the semigroup sense. As a consequence, we obtain semispectral and dilation type representations for conditionally positive definite operators. We also show that the class of conditionally positive definite operators is closed under the operation of taking powers. On the basis of Agler's hereditary functional calculus, we build an $L^{\infty}(M)$-functional calculus for operators of this class, where $M$ is an associated semispectral measure. We provide a variety of applications of this calculus to inequalities involving polynomials and analytic functions. In addition, we derive new necessary and sufficient conditions for a conditionally positive definite operator to be a subnormal contraction (including a telescopic one).

Linear Algebra and its Applications

Abstract:In this paper, we present the definition of generalized tensor function according to the tensor singular value decomposition (T-SVD) based on the tensor T-product. Also, we introduce the compact singular value decomposition (T-CSVD) of tensors, from which the projection operators and Moore-Penrose inverse of tensors are obtained. We establish the Cauchy integral formula for tensors by using the partial isometry tensors and apply it into the solution of tensor equations. Then we establish the generalized tensor power and the Taylor expansion of tensors. Explicit generalized tensor functions are listed. We define the tensor bilinear and sesquilinear forms and propose theorems on structures preserved by generalized tensor functions. For complex tensors, we established an isomorphism between complex tensors and real tensors. In the last part of our paper, we find that the block circulant operator establishes an isomorphism between tensors and matrices. This isomorphism is used to prove the F-stochastic structure is invariant under generalized tensor functions. The concept of invariant tensor cones is raised.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the square root problem of Kato for the "sum" of linear operators in a Hilbert space ${\mathbb H}$. Under suitable assumptions, we show that if $A$ and $B$ are respectively m-scetroial linear operators satisfying the square root problem of Kato. Then the same conclusion still holds for their "sum". As application, we consider perturbed Schrödinger operators.
