Abstract:Poverty can be considered as a phenomenon of people's feasible capacity is deprived in multiple dimensions. The Multidimensional Poverty Index(MPI) reflects both the incidence or headcount ratio(H) of poverty and the average intensity(A) of their poverty-the average proportion of indicators in which poor people are deprived. The paper integrated the asset dimension of poor people into the framework of multidimensional poverty analysis, the MPI has four dimensions and 10 indicators. The results that used Alkire-Foster approach and Chinese Nutrition and Health Survey data in 2009 show that the incidence is 9.1%,the average intensity is 37.0% and M0 is 0.034 when k=3.The urban and rural poverty contributes to MPI 22.8% and 77.2% respectively. The top five indictors of multidimensional deprivation in China is sanitation, health insurance, duration goods, productive assets and cooking fuel that gives the priority for anti-poverty public policy in China.
