Abstract:In this paper, a characterization of almost periodic strongly continuous Sine operator function is given, and in a Hilbert space, it is shown that the almost periodicity of a Sine operator function implies that of the corresponding Cosine operator function.

By using the critical point theory, we establish some new sufficient conditions on the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions. Recent results are generalized and significantly improved. Abstract:In this paper, we study a basic generation problem concerning the second order differential operator ad2dx2+bddx+c in the space C[0,1] of complex continuous functions equipped with Feller–Wentzell type boundary conditions, which originates from the work of Feller [W. Feller, The parabolic differential equations and the associated semi-groups of transformations, Ann. of Math. (2) 55 (1952) 468–519]. We prove successfully that the operator, under suitable assumptions, generates a strongly continuous cosine function on C[0,1] (or on a subspace of C[0,1]), by means of an operator matrix analysis combined with perturbation, approximation, and similarity techniques.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with a problem of periodic solution for a second order nonautonomous differential equation with a discontinuity line. Under two types of assumptions, we analyze the geometric properties of solutions respectively. Then by using a fixed point theorem, we obtain several existence criteria of periodic solutions, where the periodic solutions are crossing harmonic and subharmonic solutions.

Abstract:The paper studies the existence and uniqueness of a positive periodic solution to the equation <math>u′′=p(t)u−q(t,u),</math> where <math>p∈L([0,ω])</math> and <math>q:[0,ω]×R→R</math> is a Carathéodory function sub-linear in the second argument. The general results are applied to some particular cases such as the equation <math>u′′=p(t)u−h(t)sinu</math> with <math>p,h∈L([0,ω])</math>. This equation appears when approximating non-linearities in the equation of motion of a certain non-linear oscillator, namely, a pendulum deflected towards the two charged bodies.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of periodic solutions for a class of semilinear second-order differential equations. The difficulty of traditional methods lies in a mass of detailed estimates. By applying the viscosity solutions method and the classical upper-lower solutions method, as well as the Leray-Schauder fixed point principle, we establish the existence of periodic solutions to the equation under some weaker conditions. Our result improves and generalizes many results on the ropes mechanics equations in the previous literature.

Abstract:A second-order difference equation with periodic boundary value conditions is studied in this article, the nonlinear term may be singular. A few conditions are given to guarantee the existence of positive periodic solution by fixed-point theorem in cones. Our results can be applied to both superlinearity and semilinearity in the case that the difference equation has no singularity, and can be applied to both strong singularity and weak singularity in the case that the difference equation has a repulsive singularity.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we establish two existence theorems of rotating-periodic solutions for nonlinear second order vector differential equations via the Leray–Schauder degree theory and the lower and upper solutions method. The concept “rotating-periodicity” is a kind of symmetry, which is a general version of periodicity, anti-periodicity, harmonic-periodicity, and it is also a special kind of quasi-periodicity. Abstract:In this paper, existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of second‐order semilinear impulsive differential equations are obtained. Some sufficient conditions that guarantee the existence of periodic solutions to second‐order linear nonhomogeneous impulsive differential equations are obtained. In addition, by using the appropriate fixed theorem and the theory of coincidence degree, some conditions ensuring the existence and uniqueness of periodic solution to second‐order semilinear impulsive differential systems are derived. Finally, some examples are provided to illustrate the availability of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we exhibit a unified treatment of the mixed initial boundary value problem for second order (in time) parabolic linear differential equations in Banach spaces, whose boundary conditions are of a dynamical nature. Results regarding existence, uniqueness, continuous dependence (on initial data) and regularity of classical and strict solutions are established. Moreover, several examples are given as samples for possible applications.

Abstract:The present paper concerns the periodic problem where p , f : [0, ω] → R are Lebesgue integrable functions and q : [0, ω] × R → R is a Carathéodory function. We assume that the anti-maximum principle holds for the corresponding linear problem and provide sufficient conditions guaranteeing the existence and uniqueness of a positive solution to the given non-linear problem. The general results obtained are applied to the non-autonomous Duffing type equation with a super-linear power non-linearity.

Abstract:The existence of three solutions for nonlinear operator equations is established via index theory for linear self-adjoint operator equations, critical point reduction method, and three critical points theorems obtained by Brezis-Nirenberg, Ricceri, and Averna-Bonanno. Applying the results to second-order Hamiltonian systems satisfying generalized periodic boundary conditions or Sturm-Liouville boundary conditions and elliptic partial differential equations satisfying Dirichlet boundary value conditions, we obtain some new theorems concerning the existence of three solutions.
