Abstract:Hybrid systems are heterogenous dynamical systems characterized by interacting continuous and discrete dynamics. Interval Temporal Logic (ITL) is a temporal logic which includes a basic construct for the sequential composition of two formulas as well as an analog of Kleene star. In this paper, Interval Temporal Logic is applied to represent the hybrid systems. This method is demonstrated by an example in water industry systems.

Abstract:Optimal control of hybrid systems encounters the difficulty of computational complexity due to hybrid systems involving continuous variable and discrete variable.Hybrid model mixed with logics and rules is presented. Mixed integer nonlinear programming algorithm integrated constraint programming is applied to solve optimal control problems of hybrid model. The practical result shows that this method can build more precision model by utilizing mechanism model of industrial process and expert experience. And it also shows that the algorithm of mixed integer nonlinear programming integrated constraint programming can solve the optimal control problem of hybrid model rapidly. So this method can be used in real-time control of industrial process.

The state evolution of low-level controlled plant conduces to event occurrence, whenever high-level discrete event system controller issues corresponding control commands and makes decision. Fuzzy logical tool is used to design the interface, which has certain intelligence and suits to the settlement of plant' multi-model structure as well as structure uncertainty.

Abstract:Hybrid systems exhibit both discrete and continuous behavior and thus are notoriously heterogeneous and complex. Over years, there are abundant tools for simulation and verification of hybrid systems. The goal of this paper is to review existing tools as well as presenting recent developed tools for simulation and verification of hybrid systems through classical examples in hybrid academia. Specifically, we use Bouncing Ball, Tank and Thermostat as three examples to illustrate simulation tools of BHPC and Hybrid Chi formalism. In a similar way, classical hybrid system examples (e.g. bouncing ball and tank) are used to illustrate the applicability of the verification tools of KeYmaera, HySAT and iSAT. Afterwards we give a comparative summary for these tools. © Copyright International Association of Engineers.

Abstract:AbstractHybrid Event Graphs (HEGs), a subclass of Hybrid Petri Nets, are extensions of Timed Event Graphs and Timed Event Multi‐graphs. A set of dioid linear algebraic equations will be inferred as a novel method of analysis a special class of HEG, if we treat the numbers of firings for discrete transitions and the cumulated amount of consumed token for continuous transitions as state‐variables. As a new modelling approach, it clearly illustrates characteristics of both discrete events and continuous events. Based on the algebraic model, the analyses and controls of HEG are more convenient. An example of optimal control is demonstrated.

Abstract:Recently,the embedded sytem has been used widely.At the same time,the development of the GUI is more and more important.The inter-process and inter-object communictaion of Qt/Embedded was given.Taking the bearing fault diagnose system for an example,the design and realization of the GUI system were presented in detail,combined with the unique signal/slot mechanism.The experiments prove that the improved method can meet the real time requirements.

Abstract:In this paper, the stability of hybrid systems is studied. At first, we give a general model for hybrid systems which can describe the jump phenomena of the hybrid states. Next, an auxiliary function is defined as the abstract measure of the system energy. Based on this model and the function, some new sufficient conditions for the stability of hybrid systems are established. Due to the jump of the hybrid states, the energy of the system may be increasing. In this case the stability of hybrid systems can be guaranteed by these new conditions. We then provide one method to search for the auxiliary function. At the end of the paper, the effectiveness of the method is illustrated by the simulation example.

Abstract:The concept of hybrid systems were introduced,and some typical hybrid system models were classified and compared,including hierarchical structure model,hybrid Petri net model,switched system model,automata model and hybrid logic dynamic system model.The generalized time space model was focused on,and its stability properties were studied by using a stability preserving mapping.Moreover,robust control and optimization control techniques in the hybrid system control design were summarized.Finally,the perspective research based on the generalized time space model was given.

Abstract:Complex systems are naturally hybrid: their dynamic behavior is both continuous and discrete. For these systems, maintenance and repair are an increasing part of the total cost of final product. Efficient diagnosis and prognosis techniques have to be adopted to detect, isolate and anticipate faults. This paper presents an original integrated theoretical framework for diagnosis and prognosis of hybrid systems. The formalism used for hybrid diagnosis is enriched in order to be able to follow the evolution of an aging law for each fault of the system. The paper presents a methodology for interleaving diagnosis and prognosis in a hybrid framework.

Abstract:Embedded systems are enjoying more and more popularity in industrial applications. Platform-based rapid prototype is a promising design paradigm in which verification and validation remain a key issue and time-consuming indeed. It is increasingly important to carry out verification and validation in higher abstraction levels. Conventional techniques and tools, such as hardware/software co-simulation and co-emulation are insufficient in this point. Monitoring technique provides an alternative. We present an event-driven hardware/software hybrid monitor system suitable for platform-based embedded system design, which allows system-level monitor and observation of target system at different abstraction level. The monitor system is comprised of software probes, special hardware unit, and embedded analysis tools (EAT). The software probes collect events in target system in running time and export them via the hardware unit to a database on a host for further processing by the EAT. The paper describes such a system and how it works.

Abstract:Implementation synthesis of embedded software has great influence on implementing embedded software's non-functional requirements, such as real-time, memory consumption, and low power, etc. In this paper, we focus on the implementation synthesis problem under a class of operating systems that supports the hybrid-scheduling model, that is, task sets have preemptable tasks and non-preemptable tasks. We propose a time analysis technology and an implementation synthesis method with the ability of design space exploration and optimization. Experimental evaluation shows our implementation synthesis method yields real-time embedded software with lower system overheads.

Abstract:In this paper, we address the problem of safety verification of interval hybrid systems in which the coefficients are intervals instead of explicit numbers. A hybrid symbolic-numeric method, based on SOS relaxation and interval arithmetic certification, is proposed to generate exact inequality invariants for safety verification of interval hybrid systems. As an application, an approach is provided to verify safety properties of non-polynomial hybrid systems. Experiments on the benchmark hybrid systems are given to illustrate the efficiency of our method.

Abstract:Systems with both continuous and discrete behaviors can be modeled using a mixed-signal style or a hybrid systems style. This article presents a component-based modeling and simulation framework that supports both modeling styles. The component framework, based on an actor metamodel, takes a hierarchical approach to manage heterogeneity in modeling complex systems. We describe how ordinary differential equations, discrete event systems, and finite-state machines can be built under this metamodel. A mixed-signal system is a hierarchical composition of continuous-time and discrete event models, and a hybrid system is a hierarchical composition of continuous-time and finite-state-machine models. Hierarchical composition and information hiding help build clean models and efficient execution engines. Simulation technologies, in particular, the interaction between a continuous-time ODE solving engine and various discrete simulation engines are discussed. A signal type system is introduced to schedule hybrid components inside a continuous-time environment. Breakpoints are used to control the numerical integration step sizes so that discrete events are handled properly. A "refiring" mechanism and a "rollback" mechanism are designed to manage continuous components inside a discrete event environment. The technologies are implemented in the Ptolemy II software environment. Examples are given to show the applications of this framework in mixed-signal and hybrid systems.

Abstract:After the background and up_to_date development of hybrid dynamic system are introduced, a summary including some major problems in hybrid dynamic system study is given. Firstly, popular tools for describing the hybrid dynamic system, such as automaton and Petri nets, are introduced. Along with description approaches of the hybrid dynamic system, the hybrid system model, e.g. hierarchical model and mixed logic dynamic model, are explained in detail. Then controller design, verification and fault diagnosis of hybrid dynamic system are presented, and their primary results are summarized as well. Finally, some remarks on these issues are given.

Abstract:This paper presents a hierarchical hybrid system modeling and simulation framework using the Ptolemy I1 environ- ment. Ptolemy I1 is a system-level design tool that supports the integration of multiple models of computation. The modeling of hierarchical hybrid systems is achieved by combining continuous-time models with finite state autom- ata. Abstract:Embedded devices are everywhere now and, unlike personal computers, their systems differ in implementation languages and behaviors. Interactions of different devices require programmers to master programming paradigms in all related languages. So, a defect may occur if differences in systems' behaviors are ignored. In this paper, a heterogeneous system which is composed of two subsystems is introduced and we point out a potential defect in this system caused by an interface mismatch. Then, a state based approach is applied to verify our analysis of the system.

Abstract:Today’s system-on-chip and distributed systems are commonly equipped with multiple clocks. The key challenge in designing such systems is that heterogenous control-oriented and data-oriented behaviors within one clock domain, and asynchronous communications between two clock domains have to be captured and evaluated in a single framework. In this paper, we propose to use timed automata and synchronous dataflow to capture the dynamic behaviors of multi-clock embedded systems. A timed automata and synchronous dataflow based modeling and analyzing framework is constructed to evaluate and optimize the performance of multiclock embedded systems. Data-oriented behaviors are captured by synchronous dataflow, while synchronous control-oriented behaviors are captured by timed automata, and inter clock-domain asynchronous communication can be modeled in an interface timed automaton or a synchronous dataflow module with the CSP mechanism. The behaviors of synchronous dataflow are interpreted by some equivalent timed automata to maintain the semantic consistency of the mixed model. Then, various functional properties can be simulated and verified within the framework. We apply this framework in the design process of a sub-system that is used in real world subway communication control system

Abstract:Mixed software-hardware systems or embedded systems are core issue related to industrialization by the aid of informatization and own huge applications demand. The model that hardware and software of traditional computer systems are developed respectively results in that resources isn't optimized fully, reliability, safety and real time properties isn't ensured, meanwhile development time and cost are affected. Mixed software-hardware systems and Codesign technology based on Unified Theory of Programming(UTP) presented by He Jifeng and Hoare C.A.R gives fine solution. On the basis of review of critical safety software theory presented, the paper describes the key issues of codesign, and introduces “Neptune codesign platform with self-intellectual properties: when user requirements specification is ready, what developers should do is to implement the functions according to requirements specification with high level programming language such as C. After that the partition algorithm will divide all functions into software part and hardware part automatically. Then, the results of hardware complier and software complier will be synthesized. Therefore, it's a new and highly effective tool for embedded systems development.
