Radial basis function (RBF) can approximate almost all functions and thus is widely used in surface fitting of scattered data, differential operator design, computational geometry, neural networks and so on. In this paper, we use the RBF to interpolate the irregularly sampled data, and analyze the interpolation results of several radial basis functions. Interpolation experiments for synthetic data, using four kinds of RBFs and the anti-leakage Fourier transform (ALFT), show that the RBFs provide better interpolated results than the ALFT and the multiquadric (MQ) function performs the best among four RBFs. Real data test demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed RBF-based interpolation method.
