Abstract:Innovativeness is the key concept included in the creation process and sale process of creative product and innovativeness compatibility decides whether consumers would accept creative product. Based on the technology acceptance model (TAM), surveying 651 consumers in the Internet environment, this paper found that product innovativeness compatibility positively forecasted consumers' online purchase attitude and intention on creative product and consumers' perceived usefulness and ease took as the mediators, but there wasn't distinct relationship between product innovativeness compatibility and consumers' perceived safe in the internet environment; Internet innovativeness compatibility positively forecasted consumers' online purchase attitude and intention on creative product and consumers' perceived usefulness, ease and safe took as the mediators.

Abstract:A new theory and method of innovative product evolutionary design based on semantics unit was presented.The new theory and method was discussed with evolutionary principles of design concepts and process in integrated platform from viewpoint of innovation and reuse properties for creative product.Key technologies,such as product motion evolutionary design,assembly evolutionary design,structure evolutionary design and reuse evolutionary design,were researched in particular.Furthermore,the new method has been successfully applied in the modeling of some projects and has achieved positive responses in its utility,flexibility and robustness.Experiment results indicated that this method could help designers express product design information more naturally and accurately from high-level semantics layer,and it has realized the support for computer-aided innovative design.

Abstract:In order to respond to the market demands and the customers' special requirement rapidly,and to realize rapid product design,the product design technique based broad product family was presented.It utilizes typical product template as the platform to establish the enterprise product family,and realizes product configuration to form new product using part family.The customization platform and intelligent browser were developed so that the customers can browse the product model and user handbook,and change the design for his special requirement.These techniques make it possible to reuse the knowledge in the entire enterprise,and obtain the aim of rapid product development,then can satisfy the customers needs best.

Abstract:Innovative product design is essentially an activity involving creative cognitive thinking. Therefore, research on the innovative design process and of methods, computer-aided innovation tools should be conducted based on systematic exploration based on the principles of innovative cognitive thinking. We aim to uncover some general principles that can serve as a systematic thinking framework for product designers, provide a feasible framework and method of innovative thinking for designers, and provide theoretical and methodological support for further development of computer-aided innovation platforms. This paper summarizes the sources and content of studies on the idea generation and design processes behind product innovation. Specifically, we break down the general innovative design process of products, outlining the cognitive mechanisms and propose an integrated application strategy that incorporates multiple methods. And taking “the solution program to the coking of oily sludge pyrolysis equipment” as an example, this paper demonstrated and verified the effectiveness and practicability of the method and strategy proposed. Based on the results on improvements in the equipment, the designers put forward some creative and implementable design schemes. The entire thinking process was relatively smooth and efficient. The example presented in this paper shows that the proposed method can effectively guide/assist/motivate designers to think creatively.

Abstract:To promote the development of China's machinery manufacturing industry product independent innovation,a Tracking Innovation method based on Product Configuration Diagram(PCD)was proposed for the existing product innovation,which essence was to integrate applying Product Innovation Template Theory and TRIZ Evolution Theory in the conceptual design phase.Firstly,after a brief introduction of PCD,the Process Model of Tracking Innovation based on PCD was constructed.Then,the model how to construct PCD and the model how to implement Innovation based on PCD had been researched much deeply.At last,the feasibility of the proposed Tracking Innovation method had been verified by improved for the product patent US4749063.

Abstract:The complicated and changeable design knowledge system of popular ornament results in longer development cycle and higher unmarketable ratio of new products.Aiming at these problems,an ontology based representation method of popular ornament knowledge was put forward,and an ornament knowledge base was established for supporting the innovation design of popular ornaments.Based on the ornament knowledge base and the rough sets based design knowledge acquisition method,a knowledge management system which could pack up and mine historical data was developed.A rapid innovation design system for popular ornaments was developed based on the knowledge management system and Rhinoceros software for threedimensional design of ornaments.Finally,the rapid innovation design system was integrated with the existing rapid prototyping system and the enterprise resource planning(ERP) system,which provides an effective method for rapid innovation design of popular ornament under knowledge environment.

Abstract:Early in the design process, designers attempt to explore in the wide design space to generate a number of feasible solutions and decide the best concept scheme with a high degree of uncertainty according to customer demands. A strategy that can assist designers in exploring and ascertaining design solutions within this vast space is therefore crucial. However, existing product design tools mainly focus on the detailed design phase and due to lack of effective design tools, it is often difficult for human designers to explore in wide multi-disciplinary solution spaces. Therefore, this paper proposes a cognitive process-based approach for assisting designers achieving intelligent conceptual design. By analyzing designers' thinking characteristics, a design meta-thinking model is defined and a simulation model which is composed of divergent thinking and convergent thinking is put forward. Case-based reasoning and genetic algorithm are applied to stimulate divergent thinking to associate and produce feasible concept solutions. Furthermore, multiple-attribute decision-making method based on intuitionistic fuzzy number is employed to stimulate convergent thinking to obtain the best solution from generated conceptual candidate solutions. Finally, a case study is implemented on a turbo-expander. The result of this example demonstrates that the proposed approach can provide an intelligent manner to perform conceptual design. Meanwhile, a computer-aided design prototype system is developed based on this framework.

Abstract:Traditional CAD system is difficult to solve the problems of product diversification because of individual customer requirements. Combining with the inherent rules of product design, similarity science was introduced in the course of reusable design. A reusable design method based on knowledge evolution was advanced based on the idea of similarity analysis. The calculation method of semantic knowledge similarity indices, such as similarity, gratification and reusability, was described. The reusable design flow and evolutionary operator of product design were combined so that the evolution process of semantic unit could reflect the design intention. The new method was applied successfully in the development of numerical controlled machine tool. The engineering product and its design process were expressed effectively, which helps to enhance the design efficiency and quality.

Abstract:Aiming at the demand characteristic of some arts and crafts whose styles change fast and life cycle is short, the relation between the product characteristic and the Kanzei knowledge of customer toward product was analyzed, and the model of Kanzei-driving product design knowledge base was constructed to support rapid product design. In the model, object-oriented method was used to construct product models. SML (tabular layouts of article characteristics) technology was utilized to express the general product features(style feature, function feature, geometrical feature, material feature, colour feature, technical feature and so on), and main model and SML-based standard design elements base were created to be chosen and variated in the design process. The Kanzei measure metrics of design elements was established, and Kanzei measures of every design elements and product model (combinations mode of the elements) were evaluated according to the aesthetic principle. With HOQ (house of quality), the customers' requirements were converted to the Kanzei requirement for product model and the design elements. The similarity algorithm of characteristics vector space model was used search the optimized product model and standard design elements from the design knowledge base to form the concept sketch and main model of products, so that the final designs of products could be rapidly completed by designers. The application in a jewelry company indicated that the method reduced average cycle of jewelry development, and improved the efficiency of product design.

Abstract:The inheritance and variation of functional knowledge is an important way to achieve product innovation. Analogous biological genetic inheritance can solve the problems with the inheritance and variation of functional knowledge. However, the different expressions of functional knowledge in different domains lead designers to consuming a lot of time for functional knowledge characterization and identification, which reduces the efficiency of functional knowledge application. Therefore, in order to solve the problem of inefficient application of functional knowledge in the genetic process caused by irregular expression of functional knowledge, the paper proposes a digital characterization and identification process model of functional genes for product intelligent innovative design. The process model enables product intelligent innovative design through digital characterization of functional genes and rapid identification of functional genes using computer assistance. The process model consists of four following steps. First, extract functional knowledge from patents and perform preliminary functional gene characterization. Second, characterize functional genes digitally by using computerized digital coding techniques. Third, identify the required functional genes by using image similarity matching algorithm. It assists designers to quickly identify the functional genes required for the target system. Fourth, obtain the target product design scheme. By "transcribing" and "translating" the required functional genes and using TRIZ tools to solve the translated scheme, the product innovative design scheme is finally obtained. The feasibility and effectiveness of the model are verified by the intelligent innovative design of shared bicycle parking management device.

Abstract:To assist designers to conduct innovative design with patent knowledge,a computer-aided innovative(CAI) process based on patent knowledge was proposed for mechanical products.The realization strategy of several key techniques was discussed,including the patent retrieval,patent preprocessing,patent knowledge extraction and patent knowledge aided innovation technique.The patents which were conducive to generate the innovation could be acquired from online patent database through association-rule-based patent retrieval technique and the patent preprocessing technique which was based on classification algorithm and innovative evaluation method.Through extracting patent knowledge and combining with heuristic rules,a heuristic environment was constructed to stimulate innovations from designers.The CAI system of mechanical products based on patent knowledge was developed.The innovative design of a hydraulic cylinder with the structure of magnetic self-locking was illustrated to prove the effectiveness of the system.

Abstract:The current inheritance of traditional handicrafts has ushered in unprecedented historical opportunities and challenges. This paper explains the process of designing handicraft products that are not heritage-based by describing traditional handicraft products. Using image processing technology, the collected images are pre-processed, and after extracting the image features based on a clustering algorithm, the features are reorganized, deduced, and fused using shape grammar to achieve the purpose of NRH’s innovative design. The Kano model is used to analyze the demand for non-heritage innovation design based on shape grammar. The top 5 user demand items of importance for NRH product innovation design are durability (0.7982) > utility (0.7906) > ethnic difference (0.7887) > regional culture (0.7223) > personalized design (0.7507). The combination of the Kano model and information technology enables precise positioning of the entire process of NRH innovation design.

Abstract:At present, algorithm technology has achieved very rapid development, and it is more and more widely penetrated and applied in people's production and life. Among them, product design based on intelligent algorithm has also been widely used. This technology plays an important role in promoting product innovation and design and contributes to the improvement and optimization of technology, showing very significant application benefits in the product design and development process of major enterprises. The application of intelligent algorithms in product design can not only make products more in line with customers' usage habits, but also products blessed with intelligent algorithms often have more commercial value. Therefore, in order to enhance the added value of commodities, innovative design of products has become a must. Nanomaterials must have unique properties that are unmatched by general building materials, such as high surface activity, strong oxidation, and superparamagnetic. This article mainly studies design strategies from two aspects, namely the innovation of material properties and application methods, and introduces the properties of nanomaterials, their application status, and the existing problems. And it starts from the application of intelligent technology in nanomaterial products, innovative design, and development prospects, combined with actual cases, to find a feasible way for the development of innovative design and research of nanomaterial products. On this basis, it is proposed that the idea of expanding the design should reunderstand and reposition the product design of nanomaterials and make the design more acceptable to more consumers. New design ideas and methods such as adjusting material properties through intelligent algorithms provide certain assistance and support for the application of intelligent algorithms in product design innovation practice. Some completed application practices are also presented to illustrate the rationality of the application of intelligent algorithms in nanomaterial products. The results show that the crowd search algorithm has the highest optimization degree and has good stability and optimization effect, and its standard deviation is the lowest close to 0.

Abstract:In the era of rapid product iteration, companies need simple and effective methods to guide the entire process of product innovation design and enhance their product innovation capabilities. Most research focused on improving one or several steps in the product design process. Although some scholars have proposed methods that guided the entire process, they combined more than three different theories, which increased the difficulty of theoretical learning and the complexity of practical implementation. This paper proposed a product innovation design process composed of three theoretical methods: Kano, Axiomatic Design (AD), and Theory of the Solution of Inventive Problems (TRIZ). This new process guided the entire product design process with fewer theoretical methods, reducing the difficulty of learning and implementation. The paper demonstrated the effectiveness of this method through the design practice of a portable two-wheeled self-balancing vehicle. Additionally, the discussion section explored the method’s potential from the design management perspective.

Abstract:Industrial designers often present their initial concepts as design sketches. Rapid creation of new product conceptual images that meet users' affective preferences remains challenging in real design environments. However, few published works in affective design directly assist industrial designers in creating product conceptual images. Thus, we propose a product concept generation approach framework based on deep learning and Kansei engineering (PCGA-DLKE) to assist industrial designers. Our work focuses on dataset collection, pre-processing, affective preferences recognition, conceptual image generation model and product style transfer networks. To mark users' affective preferences, we established an affective recognition model by Kansei engineering and deep convolutional neural networks. To address the product conceptual image generation problem, we proposed a product design GAN model (PD-GAN), generating product conceptual images with affective preferences. An improved fast neural style transfer network was successfully trained to meet users' style preferences. This study aims to assist industrial designers in finding innovative concepts with affective preference. The Kansei evaluation shows that the innovation of the new product concept has been enhanced, indicating that the approach can better assist industrial designers in creating designs that meet users' emotional needs. Hand drill design and bicycle helmet design are taken as a case study.
