Serial Processing or Parallel Processing?——A Review of Theories on Visual Search Mechanism

Abstract:This paper shows three important theories on visual search mechanism: feature integration theory,guided search theory and similarity theory in details.Those theories make different opinions on the mechanism of visual search.We know that visual search was affected by stimulability.But what is really process of serial and parallel processing of visual search? More researches should be done on the theory of topological perception and physiological mechanism.
