Knowledge Construction in the Field of Higher Education:A Case Study of the Event of“Training Class of Cultural Architectural Fengshui”

Abstract:The event of ' Training Class of Fengshui' has triggered a hot debate on the legitimacy of Fengshui.The public,media,university and administration all became involved in a process of constructing a new kind of knowledge.The event manifested the routine of the knowledge aiming for legitimacy.From the perspective of sociology of scientific knowledge,the process of legalization of knowledge is full of conflicts within social relations which are connected with the convention.The training class obeyed the convention by basing on the certificate and the legitimacy of the university. However,owing to the conflicts between the media and experts' interests,it failed to make Fengshui accomplishing the leap from the frontier knowledge to the core knowledge.
