Abstract:. In this paper, an optimal control problem governed by a class of p-Laplacian elliptic equations is studied. In particular, as no monotonicity assumption is assumed on the nonlinear term, the state equation is non wellposed, which may admit several solutions for one control. To obtain optimality conditions for an optimal pair, the multiplicity and singularity/degeneracy of the state equation need to be handled respectively. For this reason, penalization problems and approximation problems are introduced. Finally the main result is proved by a series of process of taking to the limits.

Abstract:The existence of solutions for singular nonlinear two-point boundary value problems subject to Sturm-Liouville boundary conditions with p-Laplacian operators is studied by the method of upper and lower solutions. The proof is based on an application of Schauder's fixed point theorem to a modified problem whose solutions are that of the original one. At the same time, Arzela-Ascoli theorem is used to prove that the defined operator N is a compact map.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of positive solutions for singular elliptic equations with mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditions involving Sobolev-Hardy critical exponents and Hardy terms by using the concentration compactness principle, the strong maximum principle and the Mountain Pass lemma. We also prove, under complementary conditions, that there is no nontrivial solution if the domain is star-shaped with respect to the origin.

Abstract:For a wide class of nonlinearities $f(u)$ satisfying \[\mbox{ $f(0)=f(a)=0$, $f(u)>0$ in $(0,a)$ and $f(u) < 0$ in $(a,\infty)$,}\] we study the quasilinear equation $-\Delta_p u=\lambda c(x)f(u)$ over the entire $\mathbb{R}^N$ or over a bounded smooth domain $\Omega$. Such equation covers various models from chemical reaction theory and population biology. We show that any nonnegative solution on the entire $\mathbb{R}^N$ must be a constant, and for large $\lambda$, any positive solution on $\Omega$ must approach $a$ in compact subsets of $\Omega$, no matter whether or not the solution has a prescribed behavior near the boundary of $\Omega$. We also determine the flat cores of the positive solutions and show that the flat cores enlarge to the whole $\Omega$ as $\lambda$ goes to infinity. Our proof of these results demonstrates the usefulness of boundary blow-up solutions in various classical problems.

We will prove the following results. When 0 < q < p − 1, the equation has no solution satisfying inf R n u = 0 for any double bounded function K ( x ). When q = p − 1, the equation has a positive radial singular solution for K ( x ) ≡ Const. . In addition, q = p − 1 is a necessary condition such that this equation (with K ( x ) ≡ 1) has finite energy solutions. In addition, the existence of positive solutions are also derived for the system where u , v > 0 in R n \ {0}, n ≥ 3, 1 < p 1 , p 2 < n , q 1 , q 2 > 0, and K 1 ( x ), K 2 ( x ) are double bounded functions.

Abstract:We investigate the existence of multiple positive solutions for the following Dirichlet boundary value problem: \begin{equation*} \begin{aligned} -\Delta_p u + (-\Delta_p)^s u = \lambda \frac{f(u)}{u^{\beta}}\ \text{in} \ \Omega\newline u >0\ \text{in} \ \Omega,\ u =0\ \text{in} \ \mathbb{R}^N \setminus \Omega \end{aligned} \end{equation*} where $\Omega$ is an arbitrary bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with smooth boundary, $0\leq \beta<1$ and $f$ is a non-decreasing $C^1$-function which is $p$-sublinear at infinity and satisfies $f(0)>0$. By employing the method of sub- and supersolutions, we establish the existence of a positive solution for every $\lambda>0$ and that of two positive solutions for a certain range of the parameter $\lambda$. In the non-singular case (i.e. when $\beta=0$) and in the linear case with singularity (i.e. when $p=2$ and $0<\beta<1$), we further apply Amann's fixed point theorem to show that the problem admits at least three positive solutions within this range of $\lambda$. The mixed local-nonlocal nature of the operator and the non-linearity pose challenges in constructing sub- and supersolutions, however, these are effectively addressed through the operator's homogeneity.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the one-dimensional p-Laplacian boundary value problem on time scales(φp(uΔ(t)))Δ+h(t)f(uσ(t))=0,t∈[a,b],u(a)−B0(uΔ(a))=0,uΔ(σ(b))=0, where φp(u) is p-Laplacian operator, i.e., φp(u)=|u|p−2u, p>1. Some new results are obtained for the existence of at least single, twin or triple positive solutions of the above problem by using Krasnosel'skii's fixed point theorem, new fixed point theorem due to Avery and Henderson and Leggett–Williams fixed point theorem. This is probably the first time the existence of positive solutions of one-dimensional p-Laplacian boundary value problems on time scales has been studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we study singular solutions of linear problems with fractional Laplacian. First, we establish Bôcher type theorems on a punctured ball via distributional approach. Then, we develop a few interesting maximum principles on a punctured ball. Our distributional approach only requires the basic Lloc1-integrability. Furthermore, several basic lemmas are introduced to unify the treatments of Laplacian and fractional Laplacian.
