Abstract:The concept of “Chinese drama” has profound meaning, which makes the national drama acquire new connotation in the new century, and also shows the breakthrough of the historical view of drama culture with the unique characteristic of the integrated exploration of Chinese drama. Although it was named hastily and with some expediency, it showed that in the artistic chaos brought by the market in the 1990s, the theater people had the first premonition of the cultural changes brought by the surging trend of globalization, and they resolutely began to break out of the cocoon, try regional and cross-border union and association, and gradually establish a real perspective of national drama. With the water-like fluidity, “Chinese drama” breaks through the frozen soil of history, prying open the boundaries of the sheltered areas of various aspects of Chinese cultures, pursuing the fresh flow and sharing of dramatic ideas, aesthetics, arts and methods. What it constructs is a new “cultural drama” that is dynamically selected and may overlap with “world drama”. The three most valuable and distinctive features are: 1. The harmonic form of multi-locality and multi-tone convergence; 2. World expression of Chinese stories; 3. Call for and generate a strong sense of community.
