Abstract:Firstly,this paper described briefly that SSR(Simple Sequence Repeat) was a new kind of molecular markers technology which developed on the basis of PCR(polymerase chain reaction) technique and it had advantages of high polymorphism,codominance,conservative,only a few of the DNA,simple operation,good repeatability,stability,reliability and so on,so it had been widely used in the fields of plant,animal,and microbes.Secondly,the optimization of DNA extraction method,primer development,PCR reaction system,detection method of SSR in cotton and its application in construction of genetic map,identification of genetic diversity,location of function gene and QTLs,marker assisted breeding and identification of varieties,hybrid,mutant,relationship and of detection of seed purity in cotton genetic and breeding were reviewed mainly.Lastly,the prospect to SSR technology was proposed and which would provide references for related researchers.
