Abstract:This paper introduces American medical education's admission requirements, enrolment scale, tuition standards, length of schooling, internship demands, and proportions of foreign-born students, faculties, doctors' quantities, etc. This paper reaches the major conclusions that as the admission is very selective and high standards, the schooling period is lengthy, the education and training is very rigorous, the quality of American medical education is comparatively high in the world. Adding to this reality is the costly tuition, therefore, international enrolments is quite limited. With the increasing of American population, the shortage of future doctors will become more and more serious. Facing rapid development of bio-medical sciences and technologies, American medical education is under big pressure for expansion and reform.
