Abstract:In 1893,Physical Review was founded by three teachers of Cornell University.About forty years later,Physical Review became the most comprehensive key publication of the community of physicists.This paper introduces the development process of Physical Review from 1893 to 1952.Based on changes of the United States,and using document analysis and metrology,the paper points out the influence of the social changes on scholarly journal.
