Dynamic Changes in Liver-Induced Co-Stimulator Expression in BALB/c Mice Infected with Echinococcus Multilocularis

Abstract:Objective To observe the dynamic expression of ICOS and pathological features of the livers of BALB/c mice infected with Echinococcus multilocularis(Em).Methods Sixty BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 2 groups,an experimental group and a control group.The experimental group was injected intraperitoneally with Em.The control group received a corresponding volume of physiological saline.Two days,8 days,30 days,90 days,180 days,and 360 days after infection,5 mice from each group were sacrificed and liver specimens were collected for hematoxylin eosin staining and immunohistochemical detection of ICOS.Results Compared to the control group,mice infected with Em had increased ICOS expression in their liver tissue;this expression was noted in the cell membrane and cell cytoplasm.Conclusion ICOS expression in the liver of mice infected with Em increased and remained high during Em infection and may have been involved in the development of liver fibrosis.
