The Discussion of Biotope Mapping in Eco-Environment Protection of the Western Regions

Abstract:The Development of the Western Regions is a great achievement in this century that is related to the national mutual prosperity and all-round revitalization in China. The construction and protection of ecological environment are the base and key point of the development of the Western Regions. Biotope mapping is a basic work in the environment protecting in foreign countries especially Britain and Germany. This paper expatiated the concept,history and actuality of biotope mapping,and introduced the method and model for mapping of biotope in German biotope mapping. We also discussed how to carry out the work of biotope mapping in the Western regions. Based on the partition of biotope,we can describe the type of biotopes in the map,and establish a data-base of ecological information.The biotope mapping will provide the ecological data for Western planning. According to the biotope mapping,the environment protecting and ecological investigation would be implemented easily. Furthermore,we also put forward several suggestions for eco-environment protection in western regions of China,including ecological function regionalization,and eco-environmental protection planning and so on.
