Abstract:Chloroplasts are ideal bioreactors for the production of foreign recombinant proteins.Expression of pharmaceutical proteins,such as antigens,antibodies and antibiotics in chloroplast,has great commercial value due to the low cost and security.In recent years,the development of optimized expression strategies has given a huge boost to foreign proteins expression;some pharmaceutical proteins are highly immunogenic,which lay the foundation for commercialization of pharmaceutical proteins.This paper summarizes the recent advances on foreign protein production by chloroplast engineering.
