Abstract:Though Albeit Husserl had merely been in Brentano’s lectures for two years,they are closely related in thought and emotion,which provides sufficient spiritual resources for later people to understand the mutual confrontations and interactions between their thoughts and between the two thinkers,as well as the resultant consequences.Brentano’s influence on Husserl can be assorted to three levels in methodology and seven in content,which,however,fails to change the fact that Husserl eventually “broke up”with Brentano and his school.The history of their communication manifests the history of thought inheritance and tension between ideas.

Abstract:E. Husserl had a commerce of ideas with W. Wundt in the early 20th century, including the criticism of Husserl to the psychologism of Wundt, the criticism of Wundt to the logicism of Husserl and the unpublished counter-criticism of Husserl. The commerce of ideas and the discussion on the relation of psychologism and logicism affected the early development of thought of Husserl. Wundt's thinking and declaration on relevant issues forced Husserl to make his stand at that time more clear, and to indicate more explicitly the position of his thought between psychology and logic. In general, Husserl and Wundt virtually affected and promoted each other despite the seeming disputations and resistance between them. On the part of Husserl, he began to consider and stress more the intuition of phenomenological method in order to avoid the criticisms on metaphysic, Scholasticism, ontology and Platonism. And on the part of Wundt, it is obvious that he was somewhat stirred by the criticism on his position of psychologism and his conclusion of relativism of Husserl in his Logical Investigation, although he did not see the reaction of Husserl to his long article of "Psychologism and Logicism". Therefore, he criticized the tendency of logicism of Husserl that makes psychology logical, and at the same time he himself deliberately or unintentionally began to abandon the tendency of psychologism that makes logic psychological.

Abstract:Intentionality is a basic feature of life.Since F.Brentano put forward that intentionality is a criterion to distinguish between mental phenomenon and physical phenomenon, the topic of intentionality has been broadly and deeply probed into by the schools of Phenomenology. Analytical Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Pragmatics and others, has become a pivot to analyze the general structure of consciousness, the identity of life ("I"), meaning and other topics. With the development of cognitive science and life science since mid-twentieth century, researchers have come to investigate further the origin of intentionality in organisms. Based on the theory of Autopoiesis, this paper inquires into the origin of intentionality, the biological mechanism of its emergence and the relationship between meaning and life.

Abstract:The characteristics, structures and hierarchies of the value world are considered. The ways of cognition of value and its ontological status are identified. The nature and specificity of value judgments is given. The study examines the problem of theoretical and conceptual positions, principles and methods of law and their axiological significance; the issues of modern social economics and legal nature are analyzed; the axiological significance of the principles of civil law in modern conditions is determined. Theoretical and practical aspects of the axiology of the principles of modern law are established and disclosed; it was concluded that the axiological significance of the principles of law is constant and stable and does not depend on historical or socio-economic conditions; it has been confirmed that legal axiology as a research type of legal philosophy is capable of elevating value transformations in the system of legal reality to the level of self-reflection of law as a form of social consciousness.

Abstract:John Dewey’s philosophy is an Axiology based on the experimental empiricism. It has achieved three transformations of Axiology. Firstly, it transforms the key conception and issue of Axiology from “Value” to “Value Judgment”; and changes the discussing method of value, defining value in terms of causality and operation instead of describing immediate value experience. Secondly, it formulates the theory of valuation and judgment on experimental empiricism. Finally, it overturns the two doctrines of Axiology, namely, the Fact/Value and Method/End Dichotomy.[HJ2.1mm]

Abstract:Evaluativists hold that psychiatric disorders have a factual and evaluative dimension and recognize that psychiatric patients have an active role in shaping their symptoms, influencing the development of their disorders, and the outcome of psychiatric therapy. This is reflected in person-centered approaches that explicitly consider the role of values in psychiatric conceptualization, classification, and decision-making. In this respect, in light of the recent partnership between Fulford's value-based practice (VBP), and Stanghellini's phenomenological-hermeneutic-dynamical (P.H.D) psychotherapy method, this paper presents a comparative analysis of two person-centered approaches to psychiatric care currently discussed within the literature. I claim that while these approaches share some core ideas, they also present important divergences concerning their axiological underpinnings, which could potentially compromise their partnership. In particular, by exploring their theoretical, practical, and ethical dimensions, I show that these models have different conceptions of what values are, which, in turn, affect their understanding of how values relate to the person and how clinicians can identify them. Finally, I argue that although Fulford's and Stanghellini's approaches are prima facie compatible and complementary, developing a "combined analytic-plus-phenomenological form of values-based practice" should address fundamental conceptual issues if it is to become a consistent and coherent method for psychiatric care.

Abstract:The pragmatist criticism of essentialism triggered the campaign that post-modernity replaced modernity in philos- ophy.Heidegger opposed both pragmatism and essentialism.His view that there is a deep relationship between pragmatism and essentialism became a theoretical origin of which post-modern philosophers radically criticized the modernity.By cate- gorizing knowledge as scientific knowledge and narrative knowledge,Lyotard unveiled the mystery that essentialism became a universal mode of modern people life.Foucault pointed out,under the condition of modernity,how the relationship between text and power effectively controls society and its culturalproduction through discourse.Derrida's view that text is irrelevant to outside power not only indicated the significant difference between him and Foucault,but also propelled Heidegger's criti- cism of essentialism.At the same time,it also expanded philosophy into literature.This paper attempts to establish the rela- tionship among all above-mentioned aspects and traces back to the theoretical characteristics of ancient Greek philosophy.

Abstract:The problems of modern psychology are immense, and there are many different directions, methods, approaches. All of them actively represent themselves both in the professional and public sphere, which is a positive thing, but you should think about the internal essence of mass psychological content. Psychology asks questions about processes, about changes in the mental, but not about what the mental is and, most importantly, it does not ask questions about the conscious. This is addressed by existentially oriented philosophy the use of which in physiological practice seems necessary and meaningful.

Abstract:For the authors, the way from a modern to a post-modern psychology requires dialectical thinking. Dialectical thinking recognizes the importance of contradiction, change, and synthesis; it also includes recognition of the value as well as limits of modern epistemological approaches. The article describes foundations for both ongoing efforts to understand and research the ontogeny of dialectical thinking and for appreciating the scope of dialectical thinking and its relevance for establishing a bridge from modern to post-modern psychology.

Abstract:This paper supports the idea that the epistemology of Psychology had a fairly progressive line of development, and it was not only an incessant swing between the primacy of two opposing perspectives: from out-side in and from in-side out. Although the recessive dynamics of these two metaphysical principles of Person Constructs Reality and Reality Constructs Person (Buss, 1978) was the critical marker of any major paradigm change from the history of Psychology, the development of psychological thinking has presupposed, in addition, a general evolutive path. I will demonstrate that these combined movements of alternation and progression form a unique complex sense of epistemological development of Psychology accompanying the corresponding development of human personality level of self-reflection. In contrast to pessimistic viewpoints suggesting that the reflexivity inherent in this dual paradigm shift consigns the field of Psychology to an eternal return, it actually elevates the evolution of human self-reflective consciousness to a collective plane of self-reflexivity. The final considerations are made about the current mainstream of psychological research and unreflexively practices detrimental to the substantiation of a Humanistic Psychological Science, which become vital in the Age of artificial intelligence.
The Concept of Crisis in the History of Western Psychology

Abstract:With roots that range from medicine to politics, to jurisdiction and historiography in ancient Greece, the concept of “crisis” played an eminent role in the founding years of Western academic psychology and continued to be relevant during its development in the 19th and 20th century. “Crisis” conveys the idea of an imminent danger of disintegration and breakdown, as well as a pivotal turning point with the chance of a new beginning. To this day, both levels of meaning are present in psychological discourses. Early diagnoses of a state of “crisis” of psychology date back to the end of the 19th century and focused on the question of the correct metaphysical foundation of psychology. During the interwar period, warnings of a disintegration of the discipline reached their first climax in German academia, when many eminent psychologists expressed their worries about the increasing fragmentation of the discipline. The rise of totalitarian systems in the 1930s brought an end to these debates, silencing the theoretical polyphony with physical violence. The 1960s saw a resurgence of “crisis literature” and the emergence of a more positive connotation of the concept in U.S.-American experimental psychology, when it was connected with Thomas Kuhn’s ideas of scientific “revolutions” and “paradigm shifts.” Since that time, psychological crisis literature has revolved around the question of unity, disunity, and the scientific status of the discipline. Although psychological crisis literature showed little success in solving the fundamental problems it addressed, it still provides one of the most theoretically rich and thought-provoking bodies of knowledge for theoretical and historical analyses of the discipline.

Abstract:Work at the intersection of philosophy and psychiatry has an extensive and influential history, and has received increased attention recently, with the emergence of professional associations and a growing literature. In this paper, we review key advances in work on philosophy and psychiatry, and their related clinical implications. First, in understanding and categorizing mental disorder, both naturalist and normativist considerations are now viewed as important – psychiatric constructs necessitate a consideration of both facts and values. At a conceptual level, this integrative view encourages moving away from strict scientism to soft naturalism, while in clinical practice this facilitates both evidence‐based and values‐based mental health care. Second, in considering the nature of psychiatric science, there is now increasing emphasis on a pluralist approach, including ontological, explanatory and value pluralism. Conceptually, a pluralist approach acknowledges the multi‐level causal interactions that give rise to psychopathology, while clinically it emphasizes the importance of a broad range of "difference‐makers", as well as a consideration of "lived experience" in both research and practice. Third, in considering a range of questions about the brain‐mind, and how both somatic and psychic factors contribute to the development and maintenance of mental disorders, conceptual and empirical work on embodied cognition provides an increasingly valuable approach. Viewing the brain‐mind as embodied, embedded and enactive offers a conceptual approach to the mind‐body problem that facilitates the clinical integration of advances in both cognitive‐affective neuroscience and phenomenological psychopathology.

Psychoanalysis, science, and art: aesthetics in the making of a psychoanalyst

Abstract:This paper critically examines the relationship of psychoanalysis to science and art. Its point of departure is Michael Rustin's theorizing. Specifically, in considering the possibility of a psychoanalyst's having an aesthetic orientation, the author analyses: 1) the difficulty of there being any connection between psychoanalysis and science because science's necessarily presupposed subject-object dichotomy is incompatible with transference, which, beginning with Freud, is basic to psychoanalysis; 2) the complex relationship between psychoanalysis and aesthetics using Maurice Merleau-Ponty's philosophical perspective as well as Luigi Pareyson's theory of aesthetics; 3) the Kantian foundations of the psychoanalytic notion of art as the 'containing form of subjective experience'; 4) intersubjectivity, without which clinical practice would not be possible, especially considering matters of identity, difference, the body, and of sensory experience such as 'expressive form'; 5) the relationship of psychoanalysis and art, keeping in mind their possible convergence and divergence as well as some psychoanalysts' conceptual commitment to classicism and the need for contact with art in a psychoanalyst's mind set.

Abstract:The axiological research in contemporary Chinese Marxism has always oriented itself towards the practice of reform and opening up, profoundly expressing the practical logic of reform and opening up by way of the theoretical logic of axiology. First, contemporary Chinese axiology focuses on the concept of value and reveals its essence, it explores the relationship between truth and value, deepens the understanding of practice as a standard, and thus it provides a philosophical basis for solving the problem of right and wrong in the practice of China's reform and opening up. Second, contemporary Chinese axiology frames evaluation standards and examines their rationality, considers the 'three-favorables' criterion and also provides a theoretical basis for solving the problems of good and bad in the practice of China's reform and opening up. Third, it considers the change of values and the conflict of values, constructs core socialist values, and responds to the question of 'what is socialism and how to build it' from the perspective of value, thus providing the most fundamental conceptual and theoretical support for promoting both the reform and opening up and the construction of the practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Understanding the development of contemporary Chinese axiology on the basis of the practice of reform and opening up makes us not only grasp accurately the overall picture of contemporary Chinese axiology, but also understand better the academic pursuit and practical implications of contemporary Chinese Marxist research.

Abstract:Zagaria et al. (<a href="/article/10.1007/s12124-020-09543-2#ref-CR52">2020</a>) have aptly suggested that as a discipline, psychology is a giant with feet of clay. Drawing on the content of introductory textbooks, the authors show that there is little coherence and consensus about the meaning of key psychological terms – including such terms as psychology, mind, behavior. Drawing on evidence marking psychology is a "soft" science, the authors suggest that psychology can profit by adopting the "hard" foundation of evolutionary psychology as its metatheory. While Zagaria et al.'s characterization of psychology's fractious foundation has deep merit, their desire to erect a psychological metatheory on evolutionary psychology is unlikely to solve the problem they so aptly identify. At the least, I suggest a unified metatheory must: (a) establish a shared psychological lexicon; (b) elaborate a methodology that coordinates first-, second- and third-person modes of inquiry, and (c) develop a process model that describes psychological functioning at the biological, psychological and socio-cultural levels of analysis. To illustrate, I describe how contemporary relational and systems frameworks provide a framework that can move us in these directions.

Abstract:Arthar Schopenhauer's philosophy is both old and new.It is old in form.He inherited the traditional Germen philosophy since Kant and expresses his philosophy in the traditional metaphysical frame.His Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung establishes a metaphysical system based on will that integrates ontology,epistemology,ethics and aesthetics,which seems to be an imitation of Kant's three critiques.In content his philosophy is not always new because he has absorbed some ideas of Plato,Berkeley,Leibniz and Kant.Thus,it is no wonder that some people have criticized his philosophy as some patchwork of out-dated philosophy.However,his philosophy has something new because he has brought forth the new through the old which finds expression in the following: He expands the concept of will and integrates it with life force which he uses as noumenon to establishes a new philosophy.This philosophical approach has directly or indirectly influenced Nietzsche,Bergson,Dilthey and other philosophers,and produced a philosophical movement of voluntarism/life-force that lasted for scores of years.He has also expanded the concept of perceptual intuition which helps explain noumenon(will,life force) through intuition and get rid of the dilemma of Kant's rational thinking of noumenon.
Psychology as a Science of Subject and Comportment, beyond the Mind and Behavior

Abstract:The turn of qualitative inquiry suggests a more open, plural conception of psychology than just the science of the mind and behavior as it is most commonly defined. Historical, ontological and epistemological binding of this conception of psychology to the positivist method of natural science may have exhausted its possibilities, and after having contributed to its prestige as a science, has now become an obstacle. It is proposed that psychology be reconceived as a science of subject and comportment in the framework of a contextual hermeneutic, social, human behavioral science. Thus, without rejecting quantitative inquiry, psychology recovers territory left aside like introspection and pre-reflective self-awareness, and reconnects with traditions marginalized from the main stream. From this perspective psychology might also recover its credibility as a human science in view of current skepticism.
