Abstract:Taking both white noises and colored noises into account, a stochastic single-species model with Markov switching and impulsive toxicant input in a polluted environment is proposed and investigated. Sufficient conditions for extinction, non-persistence in the mean, weak persistence and stochastic permanence are established. The threshold between weak persistence and extinction is obtained. Some simulation figures are introduced to illustrate the main results.

Abstract:This paper concentrates on studying the long-term behavior of a single-species population living in a polluted environment. A new mathematical model is derived assuming that a born organism takes with it a quantity of internal toxicant, and the amount of toxicant stored in each living organism which dies is drifted into the environment. Sufficient criteria for uniform persistence, weak persistence in the mean or extinction of the population are obtained. Also we find some sufficient conditions, depending on the parameters of the model and the clean up rate, under which the population will be persistent.

Abstract:In this paper, the effect of diffusion on the permanence of a species in a polluted patchy environment is studied. We set up a single species diffusive system on a region composed of two patches, one of which is contaminated and the other is clear. When there is no diffusion and the exogenous toxicant concentration exceeds some a value, the population in the polluted patch will go to extinction. When the diffusion exists, we give suitable conditions for the permanence or extinction of the population in the system.

Abstract:A new single-species model disturbed by both white noise and colored noise in a polluted environment is developed and analyzed. Sufficient criteria for extinction, stochastic nonpersistence in the mean, stochastic weak persistence in the mean, stochastic strong persistence in the mean and stochastic permanence of the species are established. We examine the effects of protective patch and conclude that it is effective for the conservation of a population facing polluted environment. Abstract:This paper reports on the behaviors of single species models with and without pollution. We consider three basic models, one is deterministic, and others are stochastic. We first obtained the acute thresholds between local extinction and (stochastic) weakly persistent in the mean for population respectively. Then we study the attainability of population size 0 for the stochastic cases and show that a randomized non-autonomous logistic equation will be stochastic permanent under some conditions. Finally, we introduce some numerical simulink graphics to illustrate our main results.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a stochastic single-species system with Levy jumps in a polluted environment. Some sufficient conditions on extinction, non-persistence in the mean, weak persistence in the mean, strong persistence in the mean, stability in the mean and stochastic permanence are obtained. The threshold between extinction and weak persistence in the mean is established. At the same time, under a simple condition, it is proved that this threshold also is the threshold between extinction and stability in the mean. The results reveal that Levy jumps have significant effects to the persistence and extinction results.

Abstract:Stochastic cooperation model of two species with generalized dose-response function in a polluted environment is studied. Sufficient criteria for extinction, non-persistence in the mean, weak persistence in the mean, strong persistence in the mean and stochastic persistence are established. The threshold between weak persistence in the mean and extinction for each species is obtained. Certain long-run-average limits of the solutions are represented by two constants in some cases. Abstract:Thresholds for extinction and persistence are important for assessing the risk of mortality in systems exposed to toxicant. In this paper, three single-species models with random perturbation in a polluted environment are proposed and investigated. One is the generalized logistic model and the other two are the stochastic resource–consumer models of Leslie and Gallopin. For each model, the survival threshold is obtained in some cases. In general, each threshold is determined by intensity of the random noise, the mean stress measure in organisms, the population intrinsic growth rate and the stress response rate.

Abstract:This paper deals with a diffusive population-toxicant model in polluted aquatic environments, with a toxicant-taxis term describing a toxicant-induced behavior change, that is, the population tends to move away from locations with high-level toxicants. The global existence of solutions is established by the techniques of the semigroup estimation and Moser iteration. Based on a detailed study on the properties of the principal eigenvalue for non-self-adjoint eigenvalue problems, we investigated the local and global stability of the toxin-only steady-state solution and the existence of positive steady state, which yields sufficient conditions that lead to population persistence or extinction. Finally, by numerical simulations, we studied the effects of some key parameters, such as toxicant-taxis coefficient, advection rate, and effect coefficient of the toxicant on population growth, on population persistence. Both numerical and analytical results show that a weak chemotaxis effect, a small advection rate of the population, and a weak effect of the toxicant on population growth are favorable for population persistence.

Abstract:Stochastic competitive models with pollution and without pollution are proposed and studied. For the first system with pollution, sufficient criteria for extinction, nonpersistence in the mean, weak persistence in the mean, strong persistence in the mean, and stochastic permanence are established. The threshold between weak persistence in the mean and extinction for each population is obtained. It is found that stochastic disturbance is favorable for the survival of one species and is unfavorable for the survival of the other species. For the second system with pollution, sufficient conditions for extinction and weak persistence are obtained. For the model without pollution, a partial stochastic competitive exclusion principle is derived.
