Abstract:Objective To study the effect of Huangjingzanyu Capsules(HC) on ultrastructure of sperm flagella in rats with asthenospermia.Methods The rats with asthenospermia were induced by multi-(glycosides) of Tripterygium Wilfordii(GTW).The ultrastructure of sperm flagella was observed under the transmission electron microscope.Meanwhile,sperm ATP level was estimated by bioluminescence.(Results) In the GTW group,disorganized and deficient mitochondrion and outer dense fibers could be observed.The damaged mitochondrion and outer dense fibers caused by GTW were repaired at different levels in the HC group at different dosage.Sperm ATP level was significantly increased in the large and middle dosage of HC groups compared with that in the GTW group.Conclusion The action mechanism of HC in improving locomotory capacity of sperm may be related to the repair of the damaged(mitochondrion) and outer dense fibers in the sperm flagella.
