Abstract:In an integrated reactor with a free gas space (Fig. 1), all equipment of the reactor loop (including reactor core, main heat exchangers or steam generators, main pumps, pressurizer and connection pipes between them) is contained in a pressure vessel. Typical integrated reactors are the 500MW District Heating Reactors (developed by OKBM (Russia)), DHR-200 (developed by Siemens (Germany)), Test Heating Reactor THR-5 (developed by INET (China)), and SBWR (developed by USA and Japan). Because all equipment of the reactor loop is installed in the pressure vessel, the integrated reactor has a minimum possibility of LOCA (Loss of Coolant Accident). At the same time the integrated arrangement is convenient for full power natural circulation to eliminate rotating machinery or pumps in the reactor loop. Therefore the integrated reactor is attracting more and more attention. In an integrated reactor, when the coolant temperature changes, coolant volume also changes. The incremental volume must be compensated by the gas space of the pressurizer. For the Test Heating Reactor (built in the Institute of Nuclear Energy Technology (INET), Beijing, China) the gas space is located at the top of the pressure vessel. The gas space is filled with N2 and steam, and used as a compensation volume of the pressurizer. Design requirement mean that the gas space volume of the pressurizer must be large enough to decrease possible pressure fluctuation. Because
