Abstract:In this study, we determined the functional responses of adult females, adult males and nymphs of the predator Amblyseius barkeri Hughes towards Panonychus citri. The predation experiments were conducted at five constant temperatures (16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 ℃) under the laboratory condition RH 85%. The results showed that A. barkeri on Aleuroglyphus ovatus exhibited strong predacity to P. citri. The functional responses of A. barkeri on P. citri at the five temperatures approximated Holling type Ⅱ. Over the full range of temperatures tested, the a / Th value increased with increasing temperature, and peaked at 28 ℃. Adult female was considered the most effective against P. citri, while nymph had a stronger predation ability than adult male. With a fixed number of prey available, consumption rate per predator decreased with increasing predator density due to mutual competition and interference. A. barkeri consumed significantly more larvae and nymphs than other stages of the prey P. citri.
