Abstract:In the title complex, [Cu(C7H5O3)(2)(C7H6N2)(2)], (I), the Cu-II atom, located on an inversion center, is surrounded by two 4-hydroxybenzoate anions and two benzimidazole molecules in an elongated octahedral geometry, the longer Cu - O distance being 2.618 ( 2) Angstrom in the axial direction. The partially overlapped arrangement and the short face-to-face distance of 3.405 (6) Angstrom suggest pi-pi stacking between benzimidazole ligands of neighboring molecules.

Abstract:The structure of the the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(3)ClO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, consists of a dimeric unit involving a planar Cu(2)O(2) group arranged around an inversion center. The coordination sphere of the Cu(II) atom can be described as an elongated distorted square pyramid where the basal plane is formed by the two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule and the two O atoms of the hydroxy-chloro-benzoate (hcbe) anion. The long apical Cu-O distance of 2.569 (2) Å involves the O atom of a symmetry-related hcbe anion, building up the dinuclear unit. Each dinuclear unit is connected through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving two water mol-ecules, resulting in an R(4) (2)(8) graph-set motif and building up an infinite chain parallel to (10). C-H⋯O inter-actions further stabilize the chain.

Abstract:The structure of the the title compound, [Cu2(C7H3ClO3)2(C12H8N2)2]·2H2O, consists of a dimeric unit involving a planar Cu2O2 group arranged around an inversion center. The coordination sphere of the CuII atom can be described as an elongated distorted square pyramid where the basal plane is formed by the two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline molecule and the two O atoms of the hydroxychlorobenzoate (hcbe) anion. The long apical Cu—O distance of 2.569 (2) Å involves the O atom of a symmetry-related hcbe anion, building up the dinuclear unit. Each dinuclear unit is connected through O—H...O hydrogen bonds involving two water molecules, resulting in an R42(8) graph-set motif and building up an infinite chain parallel to (10overline{1}). C—H...O interactions further stabilize the chain.

Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C7H5O4)(2)(C7H6N2)(2)]center dot 3H(2)O, the Cu-II ion is coordinated by two benzimidazole (bzim) molecules and two 3,5-dihydroxybenzoate (dhba) anions in a tetrahedrally distorted square-planar geometry. Aromatic pi - pi stacking is observed between parallel bzim ligands and between roughly parallel bzim and dhba units. An extensive O - H center dot center dot center dot O and N - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen-bonding network helps to consolidate the crystal structure.

Abstract:In the title centrosymmetric binuclear CuII complex, [Cu2(C8H7O2)4(C9H7N)2], the two Cu cations are bridged by four carboxylate groups of the phenylacetate anions; each Cu cation is further coordinated by an isoquinoline ligand to complete the distorted CuO4N square-pyramidal geometry. The Cu cation is displaced by 0.2092 (8) Å from the basal plane formed by the four O atoms. Within the dinuclear molecule, the Cu...Cu separation is 2.6453 (6) Å. Although a parallel, overlapped arrangement of isoquinoline ligands exists in the crystal structure; the longer face-to-face distance of 3.667 (5) Å suggests there is no π–π stacking between isoquinoline ring systems.

Abstract:The Cu-II atom in the title complex, (2,2'-bipyridine-N,N')(nitrato-O)(1-phenyl-1,3-butanedionato-O,O')copper(II), [Cu(C10H9O2)(NO3)(C10H8N2)], has a square-pyramidal coordination. Both the benzoylacetone anion and the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand chelate to the Cu-II atom in the equatorial plane, while a nitrate anion occupies the apical site, with a longer Cu-O distance of 2.335 (4) Angstrom. Within the delocalized enol ring of benzoylacetone, the C-C bond closest to the phenyl ring is longer than the C-C bond farthest from the phenyl ring.

Abstract:The title complex, [Cu3(C9H8BrNO4S)2(C7H4BrO2)2(C10H8N2)2]·H2O, lies on an inversion center located on the central Cu atom, which is four-coordinated in a square-planar geometry, whereas the outer Cu atoms related by symmetry are five-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. The trinuclear mol-ecules, with an intramolecular Cu⋯Cu separation of 6.313 (3) Å, are linked to each other, forming a chain through O - H⋯O and O - H⋯Br hydrogen bonds involving the half-occupied water mol-ecule. Futhermore, weak C - H⋯O inter-actions link the chains to form a supra-molecular network.

Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [CuCl(C12H8N2)(2)]NO(3)center dot C(7)H(5)NO(4)center dot H2O, the Cu-II ion assumes a trigonal-bipyramidal CuN4Cl coordination geometry arising from two bidentate 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands and one chloride ion, with the chloride ion in an equatorial position. A partially overlapped arrangement between parallel phen rings of neighboring complexes, with face-to-face distances of 3.529 (9) and 3.452 (8) angstrom, suggests the existence of pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:The complex [Cu-2(mu -cis-oxpn)(phen)(NO3)(2)], where oxpn = N,N ' -bis(3-aminopropyl) oxamidato and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, has been synthesized and its crystal structure determined by X-ray methods. The structure consists of binuclear copper (II) molecules in which the Cu (II) atoms are bridged by oxamidato group in the cis conformation, the Cu-Cu distance being 5.205(10) Angstrom. The coordination geometry around Cu (II) atoms is square pyramidal; the apex is occupied by a more weakly bonded O atom from a nitrate group. Electron delocalization is observed in the bridging oxamide moiety. The co-planarity of bridge ligand and basal plane around Cu (II) atoms may benefit spin super-exchange between two Cu (II) atoms. IR spectra of the binuclear complex are discussed.

Abstract:The crystal structure of the title complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The unit cell contains two independent molecules, A and B. B is a mononuclear Cu(II) complex with square-planar coordination geometry formed by two benzimidazole molecules and two hydroxylbenzoate anions. A is a dimer of B, formed by bridging hydroxybenzoate, and copper assumes square-pyramidal geometry. Aromatic pi-pi stacking is observed between parallel benzimidazole rings of neighboring A molecules. IR spectra of the compound are assigned in line with the crystal structure.
