Abstract:The mechanism of drug release process from dry hydrogel pieces containing 5-fluorouracil in simulated body fluid has been explained.Conclusions have been drawn through analysis on mathematical rule which the diffusion of drug in hydrogels follows.When drug release is controlled by hydrogel relaxation,and the movement of solvent is the key factor,drug may release from the hydrogels at constant rate.An experiment has been performed to test the conclusions,whose outcomes are consistent with the conclusions drawn from the mathematical analysis.
