Evaluation of Two Microbial Standard for Detecting Β-Lactams in Milk

Abstract:Two microbial standard methods to detect β-lactam residues in milk were compared in this paper.The detection limits of two methods for six kinds of β-lactams were determined.The results showed that the TTC method could not detect the MRL antibiotic residual concentration regulated by EU,while the AOAC paper disk method could.The AOAC method was suggested to be a supplement of TTC method to determine residual β-lactams in milk because of its specificity,sensitivity,convenience and economy.The detection limit of AOAC method for the six β-lactams also measured up the MRLS regulation.
