Abstract:Nanobiotechnology is converged by nanotechnology and biotechnology, and is a major component of nanotechnology. It is also an important research topic in the area of biomedicine. The nanoparticle is the most interested and useful nanomaterial used in the biomedical field, which have many characteristics. This article introduced some new reserach achievements and progress in the biosensor and biodetection field based on the nanoparticle technology, presented the synthesis methods for nanoparticle, the application of nanoparticle in the nanobiosensor and nanobiochip, and some related research work carried out in our lab. Finally, the development of this field in the future was prospected.

Abstract:Paper-based immunosensors are regarded as attractive analytical tools for performing point-of-care and in-field assays in medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring and food safety control. In this review, we provide a general overview of the types and applied detection techniques of paper-based immunosensors published in recent years and analyse the current trends in these two aspects. The first section introduces the background of paper-based immunosensors and critically discusses the necessity and distinct features of existing paper-based immunosensors. The second section summarizes the types of current paper-based immunosensors, including paper-based lateral-flow assays (LFAs), microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) and some other device types. In the third section, we describe various detection techniques currently applied in paper-based immunosensors, covering optical, electrochemical and some multiple detection techniques. Finally, current trends and future perspectives are also discussed. We hope this review will be a helpful reference for readers of various fields.

Abstract:With the continuous advancement of science and technology, the application of nanomaterials in the field of biosensors is becoming increasingly widespread. Nanobiosensors are widely used due to their high sensitivity, selectivity, small size, and low cost, finding applications in medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, biotechnology, and industrial automation, among others. This paper primarily discusses the research progress of biosensors based on nanomaterials and their applications in biological detection and medical diagnosis. It introduces the working principles of nanomaterial-based biosensors, provides practical application cases of nanomaterial biosensors in various fields, such as protein detection, DNA detection and pathogen detection. And this paper also looks forward to the prospects, as well as the advantages and disadvantages, of nanomaterial-based biosensors. With the deepening of nanomaterial research and the continuous innovation of technology, biosensors based on nanomaterials are expected to play an increasingly important role in biological detection, medical diagnosis, and biomedical research. Simultaneously, they also hold the potential for widespread application in clinical diagnosis, biosecurity, and environmental protection.

Abstract:Biosensors for proteins have shown attractive advantages compared to traditional techniques in clinical laboratory diagnosis. In virtue of modern fabrication modes and detection techniques, various immunosensing platforms have been reported on basis of the specific recognition between antigen-antibody pairs. In addition to profit from the development of nanotechnology and molecular biology, diverse fabrication and signal amplification strategies have been designed for detection of protein antigens, which has led to great achievements in fast quantitative and simultaneous testing with extremely high sensitivity and specificity. Besides antigens, determination of antibodies also possesses great significance for clinical laboratory diagnosis. In this review, we will categorize recent immunosensors for proteins by different detection techniques. The basic conception of detection techniques, sensing mechanisms, and the relevant signal amplification strategies are introduced. Since antibodies and antigens have an equal position to each other in immunosensing, all biosensing strategies for antigens can be extended to antibodies under appropriate optimizations. Biosensors for antibodies are summarized, focusing on potential applications in clinical laboratory diagnosis, such as a series of biomarkers for infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases, and an evaluation of vaccine immunity. The excellent performances of these biosensors provide a prospective space for future antibody-detection-based disease serodiagnosis.

It is crucial for the early detection of the illness, particularly for the early detection of malignancy. Biosensors have bright prospects and high value in the field of modern medicine. In this paper, the composition and operation principle of biosensors is introduced. The frontier applications of biosensors in some medical fields are analyzed, and their advantages and disadvantages are obtained. Abstract:With recent advances in point-of-care testing, wearable electronics, and implantable medical devices, there is a growing interest in developing state-of-the-art methods to monitor human health conveniently and dynamically. Among these methods, electrochemical biosensors have offered a unique opportunity to transform lab-in-hospital to lab-around-body and lab-on-body. In an electrochemical biosensing system, appropriate bioreceptors that could specifically recognize and capture target molecules pose a significant impact on the performance of the biosensors. Thus, this review systematically explores different types of bioreceptors and their immobilization methods utilized in electrochemical biosensors for the detection of a wide range of biomarkers in clinical applications. Moreover, it delves into different principles behind the operation of electrochemical biosensors and provides insights into the challenges and limitations associated with the use of different bioreceptors in practical settings. Furthermore, this review proposes possible strategies to overcome existing challenges in order to stimulate further research and clinical implementation of biosensing methods on a larger scale.

Abstract:Piezoelectric immunosensor is a particular type of biosensor that utilizes the high mass sensibility of piezoelectric quartz crystal in conjunction with the high specificity of antigen-antibody immune reaction. It forms a kind of automated analysis and detection sensors and can make real-time detection for the antigen-antibody reactions on the surface of crystal blank. It is promoting immune diagnosis method to develop toward quantification. The piezoelectric immunosensor, which is especially suitable for the clinic laboratory diagnosis, is becoming one of the novel and attractive hot researches in the field of biomedical. In this paper, the fundamental principle and basic structure of piezoelectric immunosensor were briefly introduced, and the characteristics of existing piezoelectric immunosensor were discussed. The key technology of piezoelectric immune system was presented in detail. In addition, the existing problems in its application were summarized and the prediction on its future development direction was also made.

Abstract:In recent decades, as a subclass of biomaterials, biologically sensitive nanoparticles have attracted increased scientific interest. Many of the demands for physiologically responsive nanomaterials in applications involving the human body cannot be met by conventional technologies. Due to the field’s importance, considerable effort has been expended, and biologically responsive nanomaterials have achieved remarkable success thus far. This review summarizes the recent advancements in biologically responsive nanomaterials and their applications in biosensing and molecular imaging. The nanomaterials change their structure or increase the chemical reaction ratio in response to specific bio-relevant stimuli (such as pH, redox potentials, enzyme kinds, and concentrations) in order to improve the signal for biologically responsive diagnosis. We use various case studies to illustrate the existing issues and provide a clear sense of direction in this area. Furthermore, the limitations and prospects of these nanomaterials for diagnosis are also discussed.

Abstract:Metal-based nanomaterials have a wide range of applications in energy conversion, catalysis, bioimaging, and sensors. In our review, we mainly introduce metal nanomaterials-based electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) biosensors in medical healthcare, environmental monitoring, and food safety instructively, with collecting and analyzing the current achievement of predecessors. In general, metal nanomaterials-based EIS biosensors can be divided into four components, in which bioreceptors and metal nanomaterials transducers are vital for designs. Bioreceptors and metal nanomaterials determine the feasibility, specificity, sensitivity and simplicity of manufacturing and operations. With the demonstration and discussion of bioreceptors and metal nanomaterials of biosensors in different fields, our review aims to assist brief acknowledgement of current state-of-the-art achievement and provide our insights for the future development.

Abstract:This article overviews the recent trends of electrochemical immunosensor. A brief description of bio-electrochemistry mechanism and application of environmental monitoring is given. Different immunoreaction formats and electron transfer mechanism (such as different mediators, direct electron transfer) have been developed to effectively convert immuno-signal and electrochemical signals. The engineering approach for these immuoelectrodes including fabrication method using IC techniques (such as screen printing), immobilization strategy and layer-by-layer structure of functional film, was recently developed in a steadily way. Labeled by electroactive material (such as enzyme, metal ion), electrochemistry sensor shows the high sensitivity (such as amperometric sensor), and is capable of real-time detecting immunoreaction(such as capacitance sensor). Based on these novel technologies, the development of electrochemical immunosensor for monitoring environmental pollutant(such as pesiticides and pathogenic microorganism) has grown steadily for high sensitivity, simplicity and low cost. This kind of sensor possess a great potential in environmental monitoring, especially field application.

Abstract:Abstract Immunoassay is a powerful technique that uses highly specific antigen‐antibody interactions to detect biochemical targets such as proteins and toxins. As a diagnostic tool, immunoassay is employed in the screening, diagnosis, and prognosis of diseases, which are crucial for the grasp and control of patient conditions in clinical practice. With the rapid development of nanotechnology, immunoassays based on nanoprobes have attracted more and more attention due to the advantages of high sensitivity, specificity, stability, and versatility. These nanoprobes are nanoscale particles that can act as signal carriers or targeting agents for immunoassays. In this paper, we review the recent advances in various types of nanoprobes for immunoassays, such as colloidal gold, quantum dots, magnetic nanoparticles, nanozymes, aggregation‐induced emission, and up‐conversion nanoparticles. The effect of the nanoprobe construction and synthesis methods on their detection performance deserves to be studied in depth. We also compare their detection ranges and limits in different immunoassay methods, such as lateral flow immunoassays, fluorescent immunoassays, and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering immunoassays. Moreover, we discuss the benefits and challenges of nanoprobes in immunoassays and provide insights into their future development. This study aims to offer a comprehensive and critical perspective on the role of nanoprobes in the field of immunoassays.
